How to Transport Office Chairs
Admin October 17, 2026
When taking office chairs in a private car or moving them to other locations, targeted measures need to be taken according to different scenarios, as follows:

If you need to take office chairs in a private car
- Preparation in advance: Before carrying the chairs, pre-process them by prioritizing the disassembly of larger or easily removable parts (such as armrests and chair legs) and placing them in large bags. This can effectively reduce the overall space occupied by the chairs, prevent them from being unable to be placed in the car due to excessive size, and avoid damage caused by scattered parts.
- Communication with the driver: After disassembly, be sure to communicate with the driver in advance, clearly informing them that you are carrying disassembled chairs and explaining that there will be no problems with placing them in the car. If the chairs are large in volume or have a special shape, which may affect the utilization of the car's interior space, you can negotiate with the driver to increase the fee appropriately to avoid subsequent disputes.
- Handle with care: When placing the chairs, be extremely careful and move gently to avoid scratching or damaging the car's interior decorations (such as seats and door trim panels) due to excessive force. If the chairs have metal parts, pay special attention to their contact with the plastic or leather surfaces in the car to prevent scratches.
If you need to move office chairs to other locations (such as a new home)
- Preparation before moving
- Clean the chairs: Wipe the chairs thoroughly with a cloth, focusing on cleaning the armrests, backrests, and seats to avoid bringing dust into the new environment and prevent the dust from causing slippage during packing, which affects the stability of the move.
- Disassembly treatment: For disassemblable computer chairs, carefully study the instruction manual to clarify the disassembly method. After disassembly, wrap each part with stretch film to prevent scratches during the moving process. If the chairs are not disassemblable, wrap them tightly with stretch film to ensure that there are no exposed parts on the surface.
- Packing process
- Packing with bubble wrap: Wrap the chairs with multiple layers of bubble wrap. First, wrap them horizontally twice and then vertically to ensure that the bubble wrap completely covers the surface of the chairs. This will buffer the pressure during moving and transportation and reduce damage caused by collisions.
- Choose an appropriate outer packaging: If the original packaging is intact, you can directly place the packed chairs in the original cardboard box. If the original packaging is lost, it is recommended to cut hard cardboard to make an outer packaging and use hard corner protectors to protect the edges and corners. For valuable computer chairs made of rosewood or solid wood, make a frame-type wooden box according to the size of the chairs. Fill the inside of the wooden box with foam or useless clothes to minimize the gaps between the chairs and the walls of the wooden box or cardboard box and prevent shaking.
- Moving process
- Attach labels for reminder: Attach labels on the outside of the packaging indicating "Fragile" or "Valuable" to remind the movers to handle them gently and avoid rough handling that may cause damage.
- Moving by multiple people and force application: If the chairs are heavy, it is recommended that two people move them together. Pay attention to applying force evenly during the moving process to prevent tipping over. Do not use the armrests as the point of force when moving, as they are relatively fragile and easily damaged. It is recommended to use the seat surface as the point of force.
- Plan the route in advance: Before moving large computer chairs, measure their length, width, and height to determine whether they can fit in elevators and staircases. Plan the moving route in advance to avoid obstruction due to insufficient space.
