How to Set Up an Office Chair

Admin October 11, 2026

The setup of an office chair mainly includes height adjustment, recline adjustment, and other auxiliary settings. Here are the specific methods:

Height Adjustment

  1. Locate the control device: Most chairs have one or two handles or levers beneath the seat. Pneumatic lift chairs can be raised or lowered by repeatedly pushing the lever up and down. Some chairs have fixed screws at the bottom; you need to loosen the screws, adjust the height, and then tighten them again. For inflatable chairs, turn the gas rod knob clockwise to lower the height.
  2. Adjust to a comfortable position: When adjusting your sitting posture, move the seat height by no more than a few centimeters at a time. Gradually find the right position and then return the lever to its original place. If it's difficult to adjust while sitting, you can stand and operate so that the front of the chair is just below your knees.
  3. Verify comfort: After adjustment, ensure that your feet are flat on the ground, your thighs are parallel to the ground, and your knees are bent at about 90 degrees. Avoid having your feet hanging in the air or your thighs being compressed.

Recline Adjustment

  1. Mechanical knob type: Push the seat cushion forward until your legs are naturally bent at 90 degrees. Turn the metal knob on the left side of the chair back clockwise 1 - 3 times to achieve a stepless recline from 15ยฐ to 135ยฐ. The green marking line on the knob's dial indicates the best recline angle, which can be fine-tuned according to your needs.
  2. Pneumatic rod linkage type: Press and hold the red button on the lower right side of the seat cushion for 3 seconds. Slowly straighten your back to an upright position. Release the button and then hold the handles on both sides of the pneumatic rod with your hands. The seat will automatically complete adaptive recline. This method is suitable for scenarios that require dynamic support.
  3. Smart touch type: Complete authentication through the brand's exclusive APP, enter your height and weight data, and select the work mode. The system will generate a three-dimensional adjustment plan including the recline angle, seat depth, and lumbar support height. This method is suitable for users who pursue a personalized experience.

Other Setup Suggestions

  1. Armrest adjustment: If the chair is equipped with armrests, adjust their height to be level with the desktop to avoid obstructing the movement of your knees. You can remove or lower the armrests when not in use.
  2. Footrest usage: If the chair is too high and your feet are hanging in the air, you can use a footrest to keep your feet flat on the ground and reduce leg pressure.
  3. Change sitting posture regularly: Adjust your sitting posture every 15 - 30 minutes, such as leaning forward briefly or slightly shifting your body's center of gravity. Avoid staying in the same posture for a long time to prevent muscle fatigue.

By scientifically adjusting your office chair, you can effectively improve sitting comfort and reduce the health risks associated with prolonged sitting.
