How to Place Office Chairs Properly

Admin October 09, 2026

The proper placement of office chairs requires combining installation, adjustment, and usage norms, which can be divided into the following steps:

I. Correct Installation to Ensure Structural Stability

  1. Basic Assembly: Insert the chair wheels vertically into the assembly holes of the five-claw base, ensuring that the thick end of the pneumatic rod aligns with the center hole of the five-claw base. Place the chassis in the correct orientation on the seat cushion and screw in the four B screws sequentially (first tighten 3-4 turns and then tighten them one by one). Align the seat cushion with the pneumatic rod and insert it into the chassis hole. Insert the bottom sides of the backrest into the armrest mounting positions on the seat cushion and secure them with C screws from the bottom of the armrest brackets.
  2. Detail Reinforcement: The back part of the backrest and the seat cushion bracket should be fixed with D screws in a locking manner. Press the installation area of the headrest to make it fit snugly against the backrest and secure it with an E screw through the fixing buckle. For some models, use M625mm screws to install the armrests to the backrest, M630mm screws to connect the armrests to the seat cushion, and M8*25mm screws to fix the armrest brackets and install the decorative covers.

II. Scientific Adjustment to Fit Body Needs

  1. Reclining Function:
    • Lever System: Release the reclining lock by using the adjustment lever under the seat, adjust the angle, and then operate the lever again to lock it.
    • Knob System: Rotate the knob under the seat clockwise to increase the reclining resistance and counterclockwise to decrease it. Some models require separate angle adjustment.
    • Pneumatic System: Gently pull the height adjustment lever to smoothly adjust the reclining angle.
  2. Height and Support: The seat height should keep the thighs parallel to the ground with the knees bent at a 90-degree angle. The lumbar spine should maintain its natural forward convex curve. A lumbar support or a memory foam cushion can be added to the backrest, with the support placed between the third and fifth lumbar vertebrae.

III. Standardized Usage to Maintain a Healthy Sitting Posture

  1. Posture Points:
    • Keep both feet flat on the ground, shoulder-width apart, with the ankles at a 90-degree angle. Use a footrest if necessary for those with insufficient height.
    • The top of the computer screen should be level with or slightly lower (10-15 cm) than the eyes, with a distance of 50-70 cm.
    • Get up and move around for 1-2 minutes every 30-40 minutes, doing micro-movements such as cervical spine extension and scapular retraction.
  2. Reclining Angle Selection:
    • Choose a smaller reclining angle when focusing on work to maintain a vertical forward-leaning posture.
    • Choose a larger reclining angle for relaxation and thinking to obtain a comfortable lying position.
    • Appropriate reclining during short breaks can relax the back muscles and promote blood circulation.

IV. Precautions to Ensure Safety

Ensure the chair's center of gravity is stable when adjusting the reclining angle to prevent tipping over. Avoid using backless stools or overly soft sofas for long periods and prioritize ergonomic chairs. If you experience persistent back pain or numbness in your hands, seek medical attention promptly to rule out conditions such as cervical spondylosis or lumbar disc herniation.
