How to Make Office Chairs

There are two main ways to make office chairs, with specific steps as follows:

Method 1: Starting from the Frame

1. Base Frame Construction: Place square steel tubes into a hydraulic press and bend them into a square base frame with rounded corners at each corner. Weld the support steel plates to the frame openings. Then, hook S-shaped springs onto the frame and connect three support steel bars in opposite directions to the springs to complete the internal structure of the base.
2. Armrest and Backrest Processing: Treat the armrest interfaces and backrest of the chair in a similar manner to the base frame welding, and then polish them.
3. Leather Cutting and Processing: Use black leather to make the outer parts. Place plastic templates for parts such as the headrest and armrests on top of the leather and cut the leather according to the template patterns using a utility knife. After cutting all the leather pieces, glue them onto harder foam cushions and cut out slightly larger foam pads for making the seat cushion and backrest. To ensure comfort, use softer, fluffy foam pads. First, cut them into larger squares and then cut them into connected, non-separated rectangles along measured intervals. Mark the leather according to the same intervals as the foam pads and pleat-sew the leather to form the basic shape of the seat back's leather surface. Then, sew the seat cushion's leather and decorations together.
4. Overall Assembly: Wrap the metal frame surface with foam pads and decorate it with the sewn leather cover. Fix the cover plate and the frame with screws. Assemble the height-adjustable armrests, hydraulic rods, gas springs, and the bottom support rods of the seat with the metal base to ensure the office chair can move up and down freely. Finally, install the wheels on the bottom of the seat and insert the headrest and armrests into their specific positions.

Method 2: Starting from Component Assembly

1. Bottom Assembly: Workers gather the more than 200 required components and hand them over to the assembly team. Assembly starts from the bottom. Place the base upside down on a fixed frame, install the casters into the leg posts, and use a pneumatic press to secure the casters to the base. Install the gas cylinder for height adjustment onto the base and use a machine to firmly fix the gas cylinder and the tilting mechanism to the base, creating a signature forward-and-backward tilt to fit the human body. Fix the cross-arms to both sides of the tilting mechanism with bolts, thread the cables through the gas cylinder and the tilting mechanism and across the cross-arms, and install the control lever within easy reach.
2. Upper Part Assembly: First, install the seat cushion. Fix two support devices called B-links to the bottom of the seat cushion, attach the seat cushion and the chair back to the cross-arms, and install the B-links onto the tilting mechanism. Next, install the three-dimensional armrests. Fix the armrest pads to the armrest frames with screws, install the armrests onto the cross-arms, and attach control levers to adjust the height and angle of the armrests. Finally, install the Y-shaped lumbar pad onto the chair back.
