How to Maintain Office Chairs
The maintenance of office chairs should be carried out from two aspects: daily care and regular maintenance, aiming to extend their service life and maintain stable performance through scientific operations.

Daily Care
Surface Cleaning
- Mesh/Fabric Seat Surfaces: Use a vacuum cleaner or a soft-bristled brush to remove dust every week, paying special attention to cleaning debris from crevices. For stains, dilute a neutral detergent and gently wipe the affected area. Avoid soaking or scrubbing vigorously to prevent material deformation.
- Leather Seat Surfaces: Wipe away dust with a dry, soft cloth daily. Clean sweat and oil stains with a slightly damp cloth weekly. Apply a specialized leather conditioner every quarter to prevent cracking and fading. Avoid using alcohol or strongly corrosive cleaners.
- Plastic/Metal Frames: Wipe away stains with soapy water and then dry the surface to prevent metal rusting or plastic aging. For minor rust spots, wipe with white vinegar, let it sit for 5 minutes, and then wipe clean.
Usage Habits
- Avoid placing heavy objects or sharp tools on the seat or armrests to prevent deformation or dents. Push or pull the chair gently when moving it to avoid hitting walls or table corners. Lift and place the chair carefully when carrying it to prevent frame cracking or wheel detachment.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, especially for leather and fabric seat surfaces, to prevent material aging and fading. Keep genuine leather chairs away from heat sources and avoid exposure to the sun.
- Pat the edges of the seat surface after prolonged sitting to help it regain its shape. Keep your center of gravity centered on the gas lift rod during use to ensure smooth height adjustment. Do not sit on the armrests or place heavy objects on them.
Regular Maintenance
Lubrication of Adjustment Systems
- Gas Lift Rods: When the height adjustment is stuck, drip 1-2 drops of silicone oil at the connection point and repeatedly adjust the height to evenly distribute the lubricant. Avoid using cooking oil.
- Tilt/Recline Systems: When the adjustment resistance is high, open the chassis cover and apply grease to the gears and springs to ensure smooth recline and rebound.
- Armrest Adjustment: If the adjustment is stiff, remove the cover and spray lubricant on the adjustment rod and slots to restore flexibility.
Tightening of Connecting Components
Regularly inspect screws and bolts at the connections between the seat and gas lift rod, chassis and gas lift rod, and armrests and seat. Use a Phillips screwdriver or hex wrench to tighten any loose components. If a screw is stripped, replace it with a new one of the same specification.Wheel Cleaning
Clean hair and dust from the crevices of the wheels to ensure smooth movement. If the wheels are stuck, use a small brush dipped in a small amount of lubricating oil to clean them.Inspection After Prolonged Use
Regularly check for loose screws, springs, and knobs. Adjust the spring tension according to your weight to ensure the chair back rebounds smoothly and enhances comfort.Scheduled Maintenance
Follow the instructions in the manual for periodic maintenance, such as lubricating the adjustment systems every 3-6 months and conducting a comprehensive inspection of connecting components every year, to ensure the long-term stable operation of the office chair.
