How to Fill Office Chairs
When filling office chairs, it is necessary to first assess the structural safety, select appropriate materials, and then fill them step by step. Special scenarios require targeted handling. Here are the specific operations:

1. Safety Assessment and Tool Preparation
Before filling, check the backrest frame structure to ensure there are no looseness, fractures, or failure of connecting components, so as to avoid accidents caused by structural instability during the filling process. At the same time, prepare basic tools such as scissors, rulers, screwdrivers, wrenches, Velcro or straps, and needlework fabrics for cutting materials, disassembling structures, and fixing fillers. In addition, estimate the amount of filling material according to the cavity volume. It is recommended to have more rather than less to avoid insufficient filling and an unsatisfactory result.
2. Selection of Filling Materials
The characteristics of different materials determine their applicable scenarios:
- Sponge (Soft Polyurethane Foam): It has high resilience and good support, suitable for scenarios with high requirements for lumbar support, such as users who need to maintain a correct sitting posture for long hours of office work.
- Three-Dimensional Curled Fiber (PP Cotton): It has high fluffiness and excellent elasticity. It is not prone to hardening or collapse after long-term use, suitable for filling the edges of backrests or seat cushions to enhance comfort.
- Foam Plastic Particles: They are lightweight and have good fluidity, suitable for filling irregular cavities (such as curved backrests). However, their support may weaken after long-term compression, and they need to be supplemented or replaced regularly.
- Native High-Density Sponge: It has a uniform cell structure and a density of 30-50kg/mยณ. It has strong support and resistance to compression deformation, and is not prone to collapse after long-term use, suitable for the core area of seat cushions.
- Integrally Molded Shaped Sponge: It is made through a mold foaming process, with a uniform density distribution and strong anti-fatigue performance, suitable for electric adjustable office chairs and other scenarios that require long-term maintenance of a sitting posture.
3. Filling Steps
- Measurement and Cutting: Cut the filling material according to the size of the cavity to ensure that the shape of the material fits the cavity and avoid gaps at the edges.
- Filling and Fixing: Fill the material into the cavity and fix it with Velcro, straps, or needlework fabrics to prevent the material from shifting or being exposed.
- Restoration and Inspection: After filling, restore the chair structure (such as reinstalling screws or buckles), check whether the filler is flat and the structure is stable, and ensure there is no looseness or abnormal noise.
4. Handling of Special Scenarios
- Seat Cushion Collapse: First, disassemble the seat cushion (fixed by screws or buckles), remove the old filler, and then replace it with new materials such as high-density, high-resilience sponge or memory foam to enhance support.
- Electric Adjustable Models: Before disassembly, disconnect the power cord connector to prevent electric shock or damage to the circuit. After filling, reconnect it and test whether the adjustment function is normal.
