How to Clean Office Chairs
The cleaning of office chairs should be carried out according to the material and degree of dirt, and can be divided into four categories: daily wiping, wheel cleaning, deep cleaning, and special treatment for mesh chairs.

1. Daily Wiping
Suitable for cleaning surface dust or mild stains. Procedure: Wipe from top to bottom in the order of the backrest, seat cushion, armrests, and legs to avoid omissions. Tool Selection: Use a slightly damp cloth that does not drip water (you can dip it in a small amount of neutral detergent), and prevent water stains from remaining to avoid surface moisture or material damage. After wiping, use a dry cloth for secondary treatment to ensure complete drying.
2. Wheel Cleaning
For issues such as wheel jamming or poor rotation, follow these three steps:
- Disassemble the Wheels: Turn the chair upside down, hold the wheel bracket and pull it outwards (no tools are needed for snap-on designs; if tightly secured, use a soft cloth to wrap a flat-head screwdriver and gently pry the edge). Check each wheel for trapped hair or debris.
- Remove Debris: Use tweezers to pick out long hairs and fibers from the gaps, and an old toothbrush dipped in neutral detergent to scrub the surface and bearing gaps to remove oil and dust. Rinse with water (avoid getting water into the bearings), dry with a cloth, and air dry for 10 minutes.
- Lubricate and Reinstall: Apply 1-2 drops of office equipment-specific lubricant to the bearings, rotate the wheels to distribute the oil evenly, and reinstall until you hear a 'click' to confirm it is secure. Push the chair to test for smoothness; if it still jams, repeat the inspection for residual debris.
3. Deep Cleaning
Suitable for long-term uncleaned or stubborn stains. Steps: First, use a vacuum cleaner to thoroughly remove surface dust and debris from gaps; then spray with professional foam cleaner to penetrate and fix fibers; finally, treat with high-temperature steam equipment for disinfection and sterilization. Note: Adjust the temperature of the high-temperature equipment according to the material to avoid damaging leather or mesh.
4. Special Cleaning for Mesh Office Chairs
Requires multi-step treatment: first, lightly brush the surface dust with a soft-bristled brush; pre-treat by spraying neutral detergent on stained areas; for heavy stains (such as oil or coffee stains), locally apply detergent and let it sit for 5 minutes; control water pressure during water circulation cleaning to avoid mesh deformation; finally, use steam equipment for deep sterilization and disinfection, and allow to dry completely before use.
Cleaning Frequency Recommendations: Daily wiping once a week, wheel cleaning once a month, deep cleaning once a quarter, and increase special treatment frequency for mesh chairs based on usage. Ensure complete drying after cleaning to prevent mold or material aging.
