How to Assemble an Office Chair

Admin October 11, 2026

The assembly of an office chair should be carried out step by step according to the specific model. The following are common general steps:

1. Install the Wheels

Insert each of the five casters (chair wheels) into the mounting holes of the five-star base one by one, ensuring that each wheel is fully embedded and free of looseness. Some bases may require a slight rotation of the wheels to secure them. After installation, check that the wheels rotate smoothly.

2. Install the Gas Lift

Align the thicker end of the gas lift with the central hole of the five-star base and insert it vertically, ensuring a tight fit between the gas lift and the base. If the design calls for the gas lift to be inserted into a tray hole, align the top of the gas lift with the tray hole and press down slowly until fully secured. Note: The gas lift is the core component for adjusting the seat height, so ensure it is installed securely.

3. Secure the Base and Seat Cushion

Place the base (which includes components for controlling height adjustment and recline) on the bottom of the seat cushion, align the screw holes, and initially secure it with four long screws (such as B screws). It is recommended to screw them in 3-4 turns first, then tighten each screw one by one to avoid uneven stress that could cause the base to tilt. Key Point: For some models, pay attention to the orientation of the base, such as aligning it with the direction of the black fabric or specific markings.

4. Attach the Backrest

  • Bottom Fixation: Use screws (such as C screws) to pass through from the bottom of the armrest bracket and secure the connection between the bottom of the backrest and the bracket.
  • Rear Fixation: Align the rear of the backrest with the mounting holes on the seat cushion bracket, and use a wrench and D screws to lock them in place, ensuring the backrest is free of wobbling.
  • Special Models: If a backrest bracket needs to be installed, use four M6*25mm screws to secure it at the positions specified in the instructions.

5. Install the Armrests

Press the button below the armrest surface (some models may not have a button), align the left and right armrests with the bracket holes, and insert them. Secure them from the bottom with two M8*25mm screws. After installation, check that the armrests are level and tightly connected to the seat cushion and backrest.

6. Install the Headrest

Place the headrest in the middle position at the top of the backrest, and secure it by passing two E screws through the fixing clips and tightening them, or install it using M6*25mm screws according to the model. Note: For models with an adjustable headrest height, ensure that the adjustment mechanism is flexible.

7. Other Components (Optional)

If a footrest needs to be installed, first slip two rubber rings into the designated positions, then secure them with two M8*25mm screws. Before installation, confirm the compatibility between the footrest and the seat cushion.

Precautions

  • Screw Specifications: Screw specifications may vary for different models (such as M625mm, M820mm), so strictly refer to the instructions.
  • Assembly Sequence: Some models may adjust the sequence of steps (such as installing the armrests before securing the base), so follow the instructions.
  • Safety Inspection: After assembly, check that all screws are tight, and that the height adjustment and recline functions work properly, and that the wheels rotate smoothly.

Suggestion: For first-time assembly, refer to the accompanying instructions or assembly videos. For complex models, contact after-sales service for assistance.
