How Many Screws Are Used in an Office Chair

Admin October 08, 2026

The number of screws used in an office chair cannot be generalized. Typically, it ranges from about 10 to 30, depending on the design, structure, and complexity of the office chair.

The number of screws required varies for different structural components

An office chair generally consists of multiple components such as the seat, backrest, armrests, five-star base, and gas lift. For the connection between the seat and the backrest, if it is a relatively simple fixed method, 2 to 4 screws may be used. If the backrest can be adjusted in angle, the number of screws at the connection will increase, possibly reaching 6 to 8, to ensure the stability and firmness of the adjustment mechanism.

For the connection between the armrests and the seat, a simple fixed type may only require 2 screws. However, for height-adjustable armrests, due to the need for additional adjustment mechanisms, the number of screws may increase to 4 to 6. The connection between the five-star base and the gas lift usually requires 2 to 4 screws to ensure a tight connection and prevent looseness. Between the bottom of the seat and the five-star base, 4 to 8 screws may be needed to fix the seat and allow it to rotate flexibly.

The complexity of the design affects the number of screws

Office chairs with a simple design have relatively simple structures and more straightforward connection methods between components, so the number of screws used will be relatively small, possibly around 10 to 15. For example, some office chairs without armrests and with a fixed, non-adjustable backrest mainly have screws concentrated on the connection between the seat and the five-star base and the fixation of the internal structure of the seat.

On the other hand, office chairs with complex functions and exquisite designs, such as those with adjustable headrests, multi-directionally adjustable armrests, and height-adjustable and reclining lockable features, require more connection points and adjustment mechanisms. As a result, the number of screws will increase significantly, possibly reaching 20 to 30 or even more. These screws not only need to ensure the firm connection of various components but also meet the requirements of different adjustment functions to ensure the stability and safety of the office chair during use.
