Correct Angle of Office Chair
The correct angle of an office chair should be considered comprehensively from aspects such as seat height, sitting posture angle, armrest height, body reclining, and reclining adjustment to ensure comfort and health.

Seat Height: The appropriate seat height is fundamental. Ensure that both feet can rest flat on the ground, with the angle between the thighs and lower legs maintained between 95 and 100 degrees. This angle allows the leg muscles to remain in a natural, relaxed state, preventing poor blood circulation and muscle fatigue caused by leg suspension or excessive bending.
Sitting Posture Angle: The sitting posture angle is crucial for lumbar spine health. A slightly reclined sitting posture, with an angle of approximately 100 to 110 degrees, can effectively reduce pressure on the lumbar spine. The design of the seat surface inclination of an office chair is also important, typically ranging from a 2ยฐ to 5ยฐ backward tilt or a 0ยฐ to 5ยฐ forward tilt/horizontal position, with a 3ยฐ to 5ยฐ forward tilt being the most ideal. A forward-tilted seat surface can guide the body to lean forward naturally, maintaining the correct sitting posture and reducing the likelihood of slouching.
Armrest Height: The adjustment of armrest height should not be overlooked. The armrests should be adjusted so that when the elbows hang naturally, the forearms can rest easily on the armrests or the desktop, with the angle between the upper arms and forearms close to 100 degrees. The appropriate armrest height can support the arms, reducing pressure on the shoulders and neck, and preventing muscle tension caused by arm suspension or excessive elevation.
When Reclining: When reclining, the pelvis should tilt slightly forward, and the thighs should be kept at a 95-degree angle to the horizontal plane for the least effort. This posture reduces pressure on the lumbar spine, allows the gluteal muscles to relax naturally, and prevents muscle stiffness and pain caused by maintaining the same posture for an extended period.
Reclining Adjustment: Ergonomic studies have shown that 135ยฐ is the optimal reclining angle. At this angle, the body's weight is evenly distributed, reducing the burden on the spine and muscles, helping to relax the body and mind, and improving work and rest efficiency.
