Compilation of Office Chairs
The compilation of the group standard 'Office Furniture - Office Chairs' aims to guide the healthy development of the office chair industry, meet the needs of individuals working long hours for comfortable office chairs, and create a better office environment for enterprises to retain talent and enhance work efficiency.

I. Purpose and Significance of Formulation
With the development of the economy, society, and the technology industry, working long hours has become the norm, making a comfortable office chair crucial for workers' health. For enterprises, a comfortable office environment not only retains talent but also enables employees to work more efficiently. However, the existing standards have failed to keep pace with the development of the office chair industry, with many indicators no longer meeting current usage requirements. Therefore, formulating this standard helps regulate the market, improve product quality, safeguard consumer rights, and promote technological innovation and sustainable development within the industry.
II. Main Work Process
- Project Initiation Phase: On January 14, 2020, the standard was officially included in the first batch of group standard formulation project plans for 2020, marking the formal start of the compilation work.
- Drafting Phase: After the group standard formulation plan was issued, the Shenzhen Furniture Research and Development Institute promptly convened and established a standard drafting team. The team conducted in-depth analyses of the characteristics and actual conditions of office chairs, researched relevant domestic and international standards, held multiple seminars to determine the standard framework, and formed a draft. On March 2, 2020, experts were invited to provide technical guidance on the standard, and after incorporating their opinions and suggestions, the draft was revised and improved, ultimately forming a draft for public comment.
III. Standard Compilation Principles
This standard adheres to the principles of normativity, applicability, and operability to ensure its scientific and practical nature. Additionally, it is compiled in accordance with the requirements and provisions of GB/T 1.1-2009 'Directives for Standardization - Part 1: Structure and Drafting of Standards', ensuring a standardized format and rigorous content for easy understanding and application by individuals both within and outside the industry.
Through the above efforts, this standard provides clear technical guidance and quality requirements for the office chair industry, contributing to the overall improvement of the industry and fostering a healthy and orderly market competition environment.
