Common Office Chair Installation

Admin October 16, 2026

The installation steps for a common office chair are as follows:

Step 1: Install the Chair Wheels
Insert each chair wheel into the assembly holes of the five-star base, ensuring that each wheel is fully embedded and rotates smoothly. Pay attention to keeping the direction of the wheels consistent to avoid jamming or tilting after installation.

Step 2: Install the Gas Lift
Flip the five-star base so that the wheels face downward. Align the thicker end of the gas lift with the center hole of the five-star base and press it straight down until fully inserted. The gas lift is the core component for adjusting the seat height, so ensure it is installed securely to prevent loosening.

Step 3: Install the Seat Base and Cushion
Place the seat base on the bottom of the cushion, paying attention to the orientation of the base (usually indicated by markings or grooves for alignment). Align the four screw holes on the cushion and use a screwdriver to insert the screws one by one, turning them 3-4 turns initially (to avoid misalignment from tightening all at once), then tighten all the screws sequentially. Some models may require installing four long screws on the base first before securing it to the cushion.

Step 4: Connect the Cushion to the Gas Lift
Align the bottom of the assembled cushion with the top of the gas lift and press straight down so that the center hole of the cushion fully envelops the gas lift. Ensure that the cushion is perpendicular to the gas lift to avoid tilting that could affect use.

Step 5: Install the Backrest
Align the bottom sides of the backrest with the armrest installation holes on both sides of the cushion. After insertion, use two screws to secure the bottom of the backrest from the bottom of the armrest brackets. Then align the back of the backrest with the installation holes on the cushion brackets and use two wrenches (or matching tools) to lock the screws in place, ensuring a firm connection between the backrest and the cushion. Some models may use a โ€œback-to-seat connecting bracketโ€ for fixation, but the operating principle remains the same.

Step 6: Install the Armrests
Press the button below the armrest surface (some models may not have a button and can be inserted directly), align the left and right armrests with the holes on the armrest brackets, and press straight down until fully embedded. After installation, check that the armrests are level and secure.

Step 7: Install the Headrest (if applicable)
Align the bottom of the headrest with the center position at the top of the backrest and press the headrest installation area to make it fit snugly against the backrest. Insert screws through the headrest fixing clips to lock the headrest to the backrest. After installation, adjust the headrest height to a comfortable position.

Precautions:

  1. The screw specifications and tool types may vary for different models of office chairs, so read the instruction manual carefully before installation.
  2. Avoid applying excessive force during installation to prevent damage to parts, especially the gas lift and plastic components.
  3. After installation, check that all screws are tightened, the wheels rotate smoothly, and the gas liftโ€™s height adjustment function works properly.
