Cleaning Office Chairs at Home
Admin October 16, 2026
Cleaning office chairs at home requires selecting appropriate methods based on the material and degree of stains. Details are as follows:

I. Seat Surface Cleaning
Mesh Fabric:
- Daily Dust: Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft-bristle brush attachment to remove surface dust, avoiding direct wiping that may deform the fibers.
- Common Stains: Dilute a neutral detergent in warm water at a ratio of 1:10. Dip a soft cloth into the solution and gently wipe the stained area, avoiding excessive force that may damage the mesh. After wiping, use a clean, damp cloth to remove any residual detergent and allow it to air dry in a well-ventilated area. Do not expose it to direct sunlight or use hot air to dry, as this may cause the mesh to shrink and deform.
Leather Fabric:
- Surface Dust: First, use a dry cloth to wipe along the grain of the leather to remove dust, then inspect the type of stains.
- Stubborn Stains: Use a dedicated leather cleaner or diluted mild soapy water (ratio 1:20). Dip a soft cloth into the solution and wipe in one direction along the grain of the leather, avoiding back-and-forth friction that may wear down the leather. After wiping, use a damp cloth to remove any foam, then use a dry cloth to absorb moisture. Finally, apply a small amount of leather conditioner to maintain shine.
Fabric Upholstery (Linen, Velvet):
- Removable Covers: Follow the washing instructions on the care label to choose between machine or hand washing modes, using a neutral detergent and water temperature not exceeding 30ยฐC. Air dry after washing.
- Non-Removable Parts: Spray a foam cleaner onto the stained area and let it sit for 3-5 minutes to allow the cleaner to penetrate the fibers. Gently brush the stain with a soft-bristle brush, then wipe away the foam with a damp towel. Air dry in a shaded area, avoiding direct sunlight that may cause fading.
II. Wheel Cleaning
- Hair Removal: Use small scissors or tweezers to carefully cut away hair wrapped around the wheel axle, avoiding damage to the wheel structure.
- Dirt Cleaning: Wet a used face towel and allow it to air dry until slightly damp. Wrap the textured side around the wheel and secure it with a rubber band. Sit on the chair and move back and forth to use friction to remove dirt. Repeat the process 2-3 times until the wheel surface is clean.
- Anti-Dirt Tips: Apply invisible tape to the wheel surface, keeping it wrinkled to increase friction, prevent the wheels from being too slippery, reduce dust accumulation, and extend the cleaning cycle.
III. Deep Cleaning Recommendations
- Comprehensive Dusting: Use a vacuum cleaner with a crevice tool attachment to thoroughly remove dust and debris from the seat surface and crevices.
- Foam Penetration: Spray a professional foam cleaner onto the seat surface and let it sit for 5-10 minutes to allow the cleaner to fully break down stains embedded in the fibers.
- High-Temperature Disinfection: Use a steam cleaner or a hot iron (operate through a cloth) to apply high-temperature treatment to the seat surface, killing bacteria and removing odors.
