Office Chair Installation

Admin October 22, 2026

The installation steps for an office chair are as follows:

  1. Install the chair wheels and gas lift
Insert the five chair wheels vertically into the assembly holes of the chair base (or five-star base) one by one, ensuring that the wheels are fully embedded and secure. Then, align the thicker end of the gas lift with the center hole of the chair base and press it down vertically until fully inserted. Pay attention to the direction of the gas lift in this step to avoid inversion, which could cause functional abnormalities.

  2. Install the seat base and cushion
Place the seat base on the bottom of the cushion, confirm the orientation according to the markings on the seat base (usually the side with the adjustment lever faces forward), align the screw holes, and use a screwdriver to screw in each screw 3-4 turns for preliminary fixation. Then, tighten them one by one in a diagonal sequence to prevent the seat base from shifting. Some models require four long screws to secure the base. After completing the seat base installation, align the hole at the bottom of the cushion with the top of the gas lift and press down vertically until fully engaged.

  3. Install the backrest
Align the bottom sides of the backrest with the armrest installation slots on both sides of the cushion and slowly insert them until the bottom contacts the seat base. First, use two screws to pass through the holes from the bottom of the armrest bracket to secure the connection between the bottom of the backrest and the armrests. Then, align the installation holes at the back of the backrest with the corresponding holes on the cushion bracket, and use double wrenches (or hex wrenches) to cross-tighten the screws, ensuring that the backrest and cushion bracket are stable without wobbling. Some models require reinforcement with back-to-seat connecting brackets or the use of four M6*25mm screws to connect the armrests and backrest.

  4. Install the armrests
Press and hold the elastic button (or unlocking device) below the armrest surface, and insert the armrests vertically into the bracket holes on both sides of the cushion. A "click" sound indicates that they are properly engaged. Some models require using a No. 3 screw to secure the armrests to the frame or connecting the armrests to the cushion with four M630mm screws and the armrest brackets to the armrests with two M825mm screws. Finally, install decorative covers to conceal the screw holes.

  5. Install the headrest
Align the bottom of the headrest with the middle slot at the top of the backrest and gently press the headrest to make it fit snugly against the backrest. Pass a screw through the hole of the headrest fixing clip and screw it into the reserved threaded hole of the backrest. First, pre-tighten it 3-4 turns to adjust the position, and then tighten it one by one until the headrest is stable without loosening. Some models use two M6*25mm screws to fix the headrest.

Precautions: Before installation, check that all accessories are complete to avoid missing screws or tools. When tightening screws, do so in stages and in a cross pattern to prevent component deformation. If there is a hole misalignment, do not force assembly; realign before proceeding.
