Aunt's Blood Stain on Office Chair
Admin October 09, 2026
When menstrual blood gets on an office chair, immediate and targeted measures should be taken to remove the stain, prevent its spread or leaving marks, while paying attention to material compatibility and subsequent protection.

I. Initial Treatment
- Liquid Absorption: Press the stained area with dry paper towels or a highly absorbent cloth to avoid spreading the bloodstain through friction. If the blood has dried, slightly moisten it with cold water before absorption.
- Local Rinsing: If the office chair material allows (e.g., plastic, metal), rinse the stained area directly with cold water; for fabric or leather materials, gently wipe with a damp cloth soaked in cold water. Cold water slows down blood coagulation, making cleaning easier.
II. Cleaning Solutions
- Homemade Cleaner: Mix cold water with a small amount of dish soap or baking soda, gently scrub the stained area with a soft-bristled brush, and then wipe clean with a damp cloth. Avoid using hot water, as it can coagulate the proteins in the blood, making it harder to remove.
- Using Stain Removers: Purchase a specialized stain remover and follow the customer service instructions. For example, first spray the red-bottled product onto the bloodstain, wait for a certain period, then repeatedly wipe the stain with a damp paper towel; if the effect is not satisfactory, cover the stain with the green-bottled product, wait for a certain period, and then wipe. Repeat the operation for stubborn stains.
- Emergency Treatment: If immediate cleaning is not possible, use a้่บซๆนฟๅทพ (portable wet wipe) or mineral water to moisten a paper towel and wipe the stained area locally, then absorb the moisture with a dry paper towel; or temporarily cover the office chair with a coat or scarf for quick handling. If you need to leave your seat, ask a trusted friend or colleague to watch over it temporarily to prevent others from touching the stain.
III. Cleaning Points for Different Materials
- Wooden/Plastic Office Chairs: After wiping with cold water, disinfect with an alcohol spray, avoiding prolonged soaking to prevent cracking.
- Fabric/Padded Office Chairs: After cleaning, dry with a hairdryer on the cool setting or place in a well-ventilated area to dry, preventing mold growth.
- Leather/Faux Leather Office Chairs: Avoid using cleaners containing alcohol or strong acids/bases; gently wipe with a specialized leather cleaner and then apply hand cream or Vaseline for maintenance.
IV. Subsequent Protection and Prevention
- During menstruation, carry disposable sanitary pants or a small waterproof seat cushion to prevent accidental leakage.
- Keep spare clothes, wet wipes, and a small bottle of cleaner at your usual workplace (e.g., office).
- If a mark remains after cleaning, gently wipe with coffee grounds or a tea bag to cover the color (only for dark-colored materials).
V. Precautions
- If others notice, simply explain it as a "spilled drink" or "paint stain" to quickly change the subject.
- If menstrual flow is excessive or frequent side leakage occurs, consult a doctor to adjust the care plan.
- Carefully analyze the cause of side leakage, such as inappropriate sanitary napkins or heavy menstrual flow. If menstrual flow exceeds the norm for two cycles, it is advisable to have a B-ultrasound examination at a regular public hospital to rule out gynecological diseases such as uterine fibroids.
