Zhangshu Office Chair Refurbishment
Admin October 11, 2026
For the refurbishment of office chairs in Zhangshu, you can refer to the following three core steps. When operating, ensure effectiveness and safety by considering the material properties:

I. Removing Old Fabric: Precise Operations to Avoid Damaging the Frame
- Tool Preparation: You will need tailor's scissors, a manual staple gun, and a heat gun (optional). If the old fabric is adhered to the frame with glue, first use the heat gun to soften the adhesive layer, then slowly tear off the fabric to avoid directly pulling and causing the frame surface to peel off or deform.
- Staple Handling: After cutting open the connection between the fabric and the frame with tailor's scissors, use the manual staple gun to pull out the fixing staples one by one. Thoroughly clean up any remaining staples to prevent scratching subsequent operators or damaging the new fabric. If the staples are severely rusted, you can first use pliers to assist in pulling them out.
- Frame Inspection: After removing the old fabric, check the frame for cracks, looseness, or insect damage. For wooden frames, pay special attention to whether the joints are stable. For metal frames, check whether the welds have fallen off and reinforce them in advance if necessary.
II. Installing New Fabric: Material Selection and Fixing Techniques
- Material Selection: It is recommended to use abrasion-resistant tech fabric, which combines stain resistance, breathability, and aesthetics, making it suitable for high-frequency office use. If you pursue a natural texture, you can also choose thick cotton and linen fabric, but pay attention to the cleaning frequency.
- Cutting and Fixing:
- The new fabric should be 5 cm larger than the frame size, with edges reserved for fixing.
- When laying the fabric, pull it flat from the center to theๅๅจ. First fix the central area, then gradually extend to the edges. Check for flatness after fixing each part and adjust any wrinkles in a timely manner.
- When using a staple gun to fix it, insert a staple every 3 cm to ensure that the fabric is tightly attached to the frame. Pay special attention to the corners. You can cut open the fabric edges and overlap them for fixing to avoid accumulation.
III. Painting and Maintenance: Layered Treatment for Wooden Frames
- Sanding Treatment: If the frame is wooden, use sandpaper to sand along the wood grain to remove old paint and burrs. The sanding force should be uniform to avoid excessive wear that causes the frame to become thinner.
- Painting Techniques:
- Choose an environmentally friendly wood paint (such as white Sanqing paint) and spray it in three layers, with an interval of 1-2 hours between each layer to ensure uniform drying of the paint layer.
- When spraying, focus on treating the gaps. You can use a small brush to dip the paint and apply it carefully to avoid missing paint or a too-thin paint layer.
- If the frame has carvings or complex structures, use masking tape to cover the areas that do not need painting to prevent paint contamination.
- Structural Reinforcement: If the chair legs are loose or the frame is deformed, contact a professional master for reinforcement. Do not weld or glue it yourself to avoid affecting stability or causing safety hazards.
Tip: Before refurbishment, evaluate the overall condition of the chair. If the frame is severely damaged or the material is aged (such as wooden decay or metal rust-through), it is recommended to directly replace it with a new chair to avoid risks after refurbishment.
