Z-shaped Office Chair

Admin October 11, 2026

The term 'Z-shaped office chair' is not a universally recognized concept with a single, clear definition. Currently, there are two common chair designs associated with the 'Z-shape,' but strictly speaking, there is no typical 'Z-shaped office chair' specifically designed for office settings.

Z-shaped Wooden Stool with Linkage Structure

This design connects the stool legs and seat through multiple pivot points, allowing it to expand and contract like an accordion. When expanded, the components support each other, utilizing mechanical principles to form a stable C-shaped or near-triangular load-bearing structure. This structure ensures excellent load-bearing capacity, meeting daily seating needs. When folded, it becomes lightweight and portable, making it ideal for small households or outdoor activities. However, from its original design intent and common usage scenarios, it leans more towards being a multifunctional portable piece of furniture rather than being specifically designed for office settings. Office environments typically require chairs with more adjustable features, such as height adjustment and backrest angle adjustment, to accommodate different office postures and needs, and this Z-shaped wooden stool may fall short in these aspects.

Classic Zig Zag Chair

This is a work designed by Dutch designer Gerrit Thomas Rietveld in 1934. Its legs, seat, and backrest all break away from the traditional chair design, possessing unique aesthetic value while also being space-saving. Structurally, it employs a combination of mortise-and-tenon joints, glue, and bolts to achieve pressure bearing. However, this chair was not specifically designed with office scenarios in mind; it serves more as an artistic piece of furniture and a space decoration element. Office chairs typically need to consider factors such as comfort for prolonged use, ergonomic design, and harmony with the office environment, and the Zig Zag Chair has relatively fewer considerations in these areas.
