Yihang Shines at the 2022 IFMA China Global Carbon Neutrality Summit
Against the backdrop of the “carbon neutrality” era, the 2022 IFMA China Global Carbon Neutrality Summit held in Shanghai drew special attention. More than 30 experts in energy efficiency and facility management from around the world, together with facility management professionals from Fortune Global 500 companies, gathered to explore the critical issues of corporate facility management in the age of carbon neutrality.
The summit was initiated by IFMA, the International Facility Management Association. As the authority in facility management, IFMA supports more than 24,000 members across 104 countries, who together manage over 78 billion square feet of real estate, with facility management products and services transactions exceeding US$526 billion a year. Yihang Technology, a leading office furniture company and long-standing IFMA partner, appeared prominently as “dinner sponsor and gift sponsor,” sharing how an office furniture company cuts carbon emissions through its brand philosophy and displays of eco-friendly products.

Building natural office spaces
Nature's healing power is everywhere, and research shows that contact with nature has marked effects on promoting health and reducing stress. Guided by its brand philosophy of “bringing nature into the office,” Yihang Technology puts environmental principles into product design and manufacturing practice. At the summit, Liu Zhenhua, General Manager of Yihang's Strategic Customer Department, presented the company's green, low-carbon efforts.

Yihang draws inspiration from nature — selecting natural colors and eco-friendly materials, combined with modern technology and craftsmanship, to create healthy, eco-friendly, comfortable, and intelligent office spaces. This was showcased most visibly in the U Series sofa design Yihang displayed at the roundtable. Among them, the award-winning Youfan sofa was a particular eye-catcher: inspired by a ship's sail, its panel raised creates a secluded, poetic haven of focus, while lowering it quickly opens up shared office space. Notably, the panel is made of recyclable eco-friendly material, achieving resource circularity — a fitting match for the summit's theme.

Yihang's booth was another highlight of the summit, winning high praise from guests on site. The SAMU product, inspired by the shape of a whale rising from the ocean, adds playfulness to the space while serving as a symbol of the office — a call to revere and protect nature. The booth itself was built from recyclable cardboard boxes, with a storage shelf at its base using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery — everywhere conveying the sustainable core of the Yihang brand.

Beyond its products, Yihang Technology has made building “formaldehyde-free spaces” a key technical focus. Recently, addressing the much-discussed issue of office formaldehyde, Yihang joined upstream partners Wanhua Chemical and Chen Zhan Technology to champion “healthy work, formaldehyde-free offices,” calling on the office furniture supply chain to jointly create healthy workspaces where professionals can breathe freely.
Building green, low-carbon bases
From products and spaces to manufacturing and bases, Yihang has always pursued sustainable development, charting an all-around path of green, low-carbon transformation. Yihang Technology is committed to garden-style campuses — for example, its Sci-Tech Innovation Park in the Qiaonan section of the Xiaoshan Economic and Technological Development Zone in Hangzhou. Throughout its design and construction, eco-friendly strategies such as fair-faced concrete work, planting in place of walls, and natural landscaping built a low-carbon campus.

On the manufacturing side, Yihang Technology reduces energy consumption and carbon emissions through intelligent, digital equipment upgrades, while solar photovoltaic systems at its production bases feed into the national power grid, supporting carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.
On the road to dual carbon, as new technologies, new materials, and new processes continue to innovate and develop, industries of every kind — including office furniture — will keep transforming toward green, low-carbon growth, pressing steadily toward the “dual carbon” goals.
