Yibin Office Chair Caster Wheels

Admin October 14, 2026

The disassembly of office chair caster wheels usually adopts the methods of direct pulling or rotational pulling. The specific operation requires adjusting the angle according to the type of buckle, and some caster wheels with anti-disengagement designs require greater force.

The base and wheels of office chair caster wheels generally adopt a plug-in design and are fixed with metal or plastic buckles. Based on the differences in buckle structures, there are mainly two types: two-claw buckle type and three-claw spring type:

  • Two-claw buckle type: Commonly seen in nylon wheels, the buckle has a symmetrical double-claw structure. When disassembling, a 90-degree lateral force needs to be applied between the wheel and the base, using the lever principle to make the buckle contract and disengage from the slot. Due to the low elasticity of nylon material in this design, it is necessary to ensure that the direction of force is perpendicular to the buckle plane to avoid buckle deformation caused by angular deviation.
  • Three-claw spring type: Mostly used in PU silent wheels, the buckle consists of three elastic contacts. When disassembling, the wheel needs to be rotated clockwise or counterclockwise by 15-30 degrees to align the contacts with the guide slots inside the slot and then pulled out vertically. The spring structure gives it stronger anti-disengagement performance, but the force needs to be controlled during rotation to prevent excessive compression and failure of the spring.

The depth of the caster wheel slot directly affects the difficulty of disassembly. The depth of ordinary caster wheel slots is between 2-4 centimeters, while the slots of caster wheels with anti-disengagement designs (such as those with built-in rubber seals or barb structures) may be deeper. It is necessary to increase the vertical pulling force or use a rubber mallet to lightly tap the edge of the wheel to assist in disengagement. If the wheel and the base are adhered due to long-term use, rusting, or plastic aging, a small amount of WD-40 lubricant can be sprayed into the slot first, and then disassembly can be attempted after waiting for 5-10 minutes.

Precautions:

  1. Confirm the type of caster wheel before disassembly to avoid using the wrong method and causing buckle breakage;
  2. During rotational pulling operations, keep the wheel and the base relatively stationary to prevent the base from falling off due to reaction force;
  3. If the caster wheel adopts a threaded connection (a rare design), use a wrench to fix the base and then rotate the wheel counterclockwise.
