WorkPro Office Chair Recall
WorkPro office chairs have been recalled due to safety hazards. Here are the details about this recall event:

Recall Subject and Product
On January 16, 2025, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall of the WorkPro Momentum series office chairs manufactured in China. The affected products are ergonomic chairs, including two models: the black model 8517865 and the gray model 2864384, with the model information printed under the seat cushion.
Recall Reason and Risk
The core reason for the recall is a design defect in the bolts connecting the chair back and the base, which may fail due to long-term use or uneven stress. Once the bolts break, the chair back separates from the base, and the user may fall from the chair, resulting in physical injuries. As of the recall, the CPSC had received 7 reports of consumers falling, with 2 people suffering minor injuries due to the falls.
Sales Scope and Impact
The affected products were sold in the U.S. market from October 2021 to September 2024, covering mainstream e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Walmart, and eBay. Approximately 64,000 units were sold, with a price of about $430 per unit. This recall has resulted in losses of nearly 200 million yuan for relevant Amazon sellers, and currently, all sales channels show that the products are out of stock.
Consumer Response Measures
The CPSC explicitly advises consumers to immediately stop using the office chairs within the recall scope and contact the brand owner Veyer through official channels to obtain a free repair kit. The repair kit includes improved bolt components, which users can replace themselves or have installed by professionals to eliminate safety hazards.
Event Implications
This recall event highlights the importance of safety design in office furniture. Consumers should pay attention to product certification information (such as CPSC certification) when making purchases and regularly check the structural stability of furniture. E-commerce platforms should strengthen supply chain management to ensure that products on sale comply with safety standards. Manufacturers need to enhance quality inspection processes to avoid public safety incidents caused by design or production defects.
