Wooden Office Chair Repair
Admin October 11, 2026
Wooden office chair repair requires targeted methods based on the extent of damage. Common repair methods are as follows:

I. Surface Sawdust Cleaning and Fracture Repair
If there is sawdust or fractures on the chair's surface, first clean the sawdust to ensure the repair area is clean and free of impurities. For the fractured part, disassemble the fracture, trim the fractured surface to make it flat, reassemble it, and then fix it by tapping with a wooden mallet to ensure a tight fit. To enhance repair stability, it is recommended to secure the entire wooden chair (e.g., with straps or clamps) to prevent movement during the repair process.
II. Repair of Broken Legs on Solid Wood Chairs
- Interface Treatment: Remove excess sawdust from the broken leg interface to ensure precise alignment and prevent misalignment from affecting structural strength.
- Bonding and Fixing: Use a 1:1 ratio of fast-curing diamond adhesive for bonding. After bonding, secure it with a staple gun (or clamps) to ensure full penetration of the adhesive.
- Gap Filling: Fill the gaps with wood powder and compact it, then pour in 502 adhesive to enhance hardness. After drying, sand it flat. If there is misalignment or unevenness, first scrape it flat with a blade, then sand it smooth with coarse sandpaper before applying adhesive.
- Sanding and Polishing: Switch to fine sandpaper for overall sanding to achieve a smooth finish, then polish with degreased water to make the surface smooth.
- Color Adjustment and Painting: Use white as the main color, add a small amount of yellow essence and black-brown to adjust the color to be close to the original wood color, then add a brightener. For light-colored furniture, no primer is needed; directly use the adjusted topcoat to dot the wound and gradually blend it evenly towards the surroundings. The topcoat should be slightly thin during blending to avoid excessive coverage. If there are any missed spots, continue dotting. During this process, lightly sand with fine sandpaper to make the color even, and finally cover the sand marks with the topcoat.
- Texture Drawing: Use the tip of a pen to dot the main veins, scatter a brush to create broken veins, and use a light touch to avoid over-sweeping or heavy sweeping. After filling in the interrupted main veins, adjust the glossiness with a matte paint surface blender.
III. Crack Repair (Refer to the Repair Principles of Wooden Stools)
- Basic Treatment: Remove the wedge and clean the dust inside the crack to ensure adhesive penetration.
- Adhesive Extrusion and Fixing: Extrude woodworking adhesive into the crack. For small gaps, use a blow nozzle or straw to assist the adhesive flow. Clamp until the adhesive beads overflow, wipe off the overflowing adhesive, and let it stand for 24 hours.
- Butterfly Clip Installation: Make a butterfly clip according to the size of the crack, drill a large hole, chisel out a groove and smooth it, apply adhesive, and hammer in the butterfly clip, repairing the bottom simultaneously. After the adhesive dries, remove the clamps and sand the tenon flat.
- Deformation Repair: If the tenon of the stool leg is severely deformed, repair it with a mixture of fast-drying adhesive and sawdust, and level it by driving a wedge into the gap.
