Wooden Office Chair Assembly

Admin October 09, 2026

The assembly of a wooden office chair should be carried out in accordance with standardized steps. The specific process is as follows:

I. Preparation of Tools and Accessories

  1. Tool List: Prepare basic tools such as an Allen wrench, Phillips screwdriver, and flat-head screwdriver. Some chairs may require a matching special wrench.
  2. Accessory Check: Verify that all accessories are present, including wood screws (usually 16 pieces), angle irons (4 pieces), and self-tapping screws (8 pieces), to avoid delays due to missing parts during assembly.

II. Installation of Angle Irons and Crossbars

  1. Securing Angle Irons: Align the right-angle end of the angle iron perpendicularly with the crossbar and fasten it with self-tapping screws. For hardwoods like cypress, apply firm pressure to ensure the screws penetrate the surface.
  2. Level Calibration: Ensure that all four angle irons are on the same horizontal plane. After installation, check that their positions are consistent to prevent subsequent bracket tilting.

III. Fixing the Bracket and Crossbar

  1. Direction Differentiation: The brackets have front and back orientations. During installation, position the angle irons inward and facing upward for easy connection to the seat plate later.
  2. Height Adjustment: Select the hole position based on the user's height (use the upper holes for taller individuals and the lower holes for shorter ones). Do not tighten the screws at this stage to allow for adjustments.

IV. Installation of the Backrest and Seat Plate

  1. Backrest Positioning: Use a single hole as the support point. After initial fixation, place the chair on a level surface and gently tap to adjust the flatness of the backrest.
  2. Seat Plate Alignment: Before installation, check the position of the angle irons to ensure that the front end of the seat plate is flush with the crossbar. The rear end does not need to be aligned due to the chair's slope.

V. Final Fixation and Anti-Slip Treatment

  1. Comprehensive Tightening: Invert the chair and use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten all screws one by one to prevent local looseness that could cause noise or wobbling.
  2. Anti-Slip Measures: Attach anti-slip pads to the bottom of the chair legs. If the floor is unfinished or made of earth, these pads are not necessary to prevent floor scratches or sliding.

General Assembly Supplement (Applicable to Simple Wooden Chairs)

  1. Frame Construction: Connect the main wooden boards with screws and nuts to form a basic frame, ensuring structural stability.
  2. Chair Leg Installation: Securely fasten three screws horizontally at the bottom left and right of each leg. This can be done manually, but check for vertical alignment.
  3. Symmetrical Installation of the Seat: Alternately screw in screws from left to right and reinforce the back with bolts to prevent loosening after long-term use.
  4. Testing and Adjustment: Gently shake the chair to check for any unusual noises. Install leg covers to protect the floor and extend the chair's lifespan.

Precautions: Ensure all tools are available during assembly. Some steps, such as adjusting symmetry, are recommended to be completed with the assistance of another person. If the screw holes are misaligned, do not force the screws in; recalibrate the positions instead.
