Window Office Chair Too Short
If the office chair is too short, it can be adjusted according to the type of chair, and attention should be paid to ergonomic adaptation.

Adjustment Methods for Different Types of Chairs
Pneumatic Lift Chairs
- Basic Adjustment: Locate the metal control lever under the seat. Pull the lever upward when no one is sitting to raise the chair, and press down with your body weight when sitting to lower it. Some chairs have a control lever (a lever or knob) on the right side. Lift or rotate it until you hear a click. When no one is sitting, lift the control lever to raise the chair to its maximum height. When adjusting while sitting, lift the lever and the chair will slowly descend; release it to lock the position.
- Pneumatic Rod Replacement: If the adjustment lever fails, you need to purchase a compatible pneumatic rod (pay attention to parameters such as load-bearing capacity and tube diameter). Before operation, release the seat pressure, remove the old pneumatic rod, and install it in the original position to avoid the pneumatic rod popping out and causing injury.
Spiral Swivel Chairs
Rotate clockwise to lower the height and counterclockwise to raise it. If rotation is difficult, the spiral rod may be stuck. Spraying WD-40 lubricant can solve the problem.Old-fashioned Fixed Chairs or Manual Adjustment Chairs
Use a wrench to loosen the screws under the backrest, manually adjust to the appropriate height, and then tighten the screws again to ensure stability.Simple Temporary Methods
If the chair has no adjustment function, you can place wooden boards or rubber pads (with a thickness not exceeding 5 cm) under the chair legs to ensure the pads are stable and prevent tipping. You can also purchase rubber or plastic chair leg heightening pads and directly attach or stick them to the bottom of the chair legs. These pads can stably raise the chair by 2-5 centimeters and also have anti-slip and noise-reduction functions.
Ergonomic Adaptation During Adjustment
- Leg Posture: The chair height should allow your feet to rest flat on the ground with your knees bent at a 90-degree angle, avoiding a suspended waist or pressure on the legs.
- Arm Posture: Keep your elbows naturally hanging down at a 90-degree angle, with your elbows at the same height as the tabletop to reduce shoulder and neck stress.
- Dynamic Adjustment: Using the same posture for a long time can cause fatigue. You can combine the chair's adjustment functions (such as reclining and lifting) or stand briefly while working to maintain body mobility.
Before adjustment, confirm the structural stability of the chair to avoid damage or safety hazards due to improper operation. If you still feel uncomfortable after adjustment, it is recommended to replace the chair with an ergonomic office chair.
