Which Office Chairs Are Not Recommended

Admin October 16, 2026

The following types of office chairs are not recommended:

First, office chairs with substandard stability. According to inspections by the State Administration for Market Regulation, some office chairs have been found to fail the stability test. Stability is a crucial indicator for assessing the quality of office chairs. Chairs with poor stability are prone to tipping over when users lean forward, backward, or sit sideways. This can lead to consumer injuries, posing serious safety risks and severely affecting user safety.

Second, office chairs with substandard caster wear resistance. Five batches of products have been found to have issues with caster wear resistance. Casters are key components of office chairs, and their quality directly affects the chair's lifespan. If the casters wear out too quickly, it will not only affect the chair's mobility but may also cause it to jam or break during use, increasing usage costs.

Third, office chairs with excessive formaldehyde emissions. Four batches of products have been found to exceed formaldehyde emission limits. Formaldehyde is a harmful substance. Long-term exposure to low concentrations of formaldehyde can cause users to experience dizziness and fatigue. When formaldehyde concentrations are high, its strong irritancy can be toxic to the nervous system, immune system, and liver, seriously affecting users' health.

Fourth, seats with uncertified pneumatic rods. Some unbranded or off-brand seats use low-quality pneumatic rods that lack national and industry safety certifications. These pneumatic rods pose significant safety risks. There have been multiple incidents of injuries caused by exploding pneumatic rods, seriously threatening users' personal safety.

Fifth, seats that do not allow the back to rest against the backrest. If the seat cushion is too long, it can prevent the back from resting against the backrest. Maintaining this posture for an extended period can lead to a lack of lumbar support, causing discomfort such as lower back pain after just half an hour of sitting, which is detrimental to users' health.

Sixth, seats with non-resilient and non-breathable cushions. The cushions of these seats fail to provide adequate support and cushioning, causing discomfort during prolonged sitting. Additionally, their non-breathable nature restricts air circulation around the buttocks, leading to a stuffy feeling and affecting the overall user experience.
