Washable Office Chairs

Admin October 10, 2026

Whether an office chair can be washed depends on its material. Different materials require different cleaning methods, and in most cases, direct washing is not recommended. Details are as follows:

Suede Office Chairs: Do not rinse with a large amount of water directly. Suede material is special; its fiber structure tends to shrink when exposed to water, making it difficult to restore the chair's original size and shape. At the same time, excessive moisture can harden the suede, causing it to lose its original soft texture and accelerate color fading, affecting its appearance. Moreover, residual moisture after washing may form water stains, leaving hard-to-remove marks on the suede and further damaging the chair's look.

Mesh Office Chairs: The formal cleaning process uses minimal water, and direct washing is not recommended. The professional cleaning method involves first using an industrial vacuum cleaner to remove surface dust and debris, then using a high-foam sofa cleaning machine to create foam that breaks down stains, and finally using a water extractor to remove the dirty water and foam together. If handled by an unprofessional cleaning team lacking specialized equipment and experience, mesh loosening may occur, affecting the chair's normal use and appearance.

Genuine Leather/PU Office Chairs: Genuine leather chairs should never be washed with water, and improper washing of PU material can cause problems. When cleaning a genuine leather office chair, first use a vacuum cleaner to remove surface dust, then wipe it with a specialized leather cleaning cream, and finally apply aๆŠค็†ๆถฒ (here, it can be translated as 'conditioner' for better understanding in English context, but keeping the original term in Chinese if it's a specific product name) for maintenance to keep the leather soft and glossy. For PU office chairs, improper washing can lead to deformation and color fading. When cleaning the armrests, a damp cloth can usually be used for a gentle wipe, and if necessary, a leather cleaner or leather brightener can be used for deep cleaning and maintenance.
