Warehouse Disposal of Office Chairs

Admin October 16, 2026

The following methods can be referred to for warehouse disposal of office chairs:

I. Screening and Classification Before disposal, conduct a functional assessment of the office chairs and classify them as "usable" or "to be discarded". Usability criteria include smooth operation of the lifting mechanism, flexible rotation of the wheels, and no breakage or deformation of the backrest. Disposal criteria are as follows: cracked metal frames, air pressure rods with air leaks or lifting jams (which may pose explosion risks), and loose connectors that cannot be repaired. Safety components such as air pressure rods must be strictly inspected, and if there are any hidden dangers, they must be scrapped to avoid accidents during secondary circulation.

II. Focus on Brand and Condition Brand and condition directly affect the second-hand value. High-value brands such as Herman Miller, Haworth, and well-known domestic office furniture brands (such as Zhenye and Sunon) may have second-hand circulation prices reaching 30%-50% of the original price, much higher than scrap recycling prices. Condition assessment should focus on checking the functional integrity (such as whether the adjustment mechanisms are normal) and the degree of exterior wear (such as fabric scratches and paint peeling on metal parts). If the functions are intact and the exterior shows only minor wear, it is recommended to prioritize disposal through second-hand channels.

III. Record Information Complete records of chair information should be made before disposal to improve disposal efficiency. Photographic documentation should include the overall appearance, key functional components (such as air pressure rods and wheels), and model identification. Model identification can be found by checking the label on the bottom of the chair, the inside of the armrests, or the instruction manual. Some brand models may include production year information, which helps in precise valuation. Uses of the information include providing transparent information to second-hand buyers, serving as proof of entry into the public property warehouse, or as a value reference for trade-ins.

IV. Choose Disposal Channels

  1. Local Disposal: In the Jiangsu-Zhejiang-Shanghai region, it is recommended to prioritize local recyclers. Same-city services can provide on-site inspection and valuation on the same day, reducing logistics costs and handling damage, and are suitable for bulk disposal.
  2. Public Property Warehouse Model: Applicable to administrative institutions, idle assets are collected through an online platform and managed with a "one-item-one-code" system. Grassroots units can apply for them as needed, achieving internal resource circulation.
  3. Trade-In: If new chairs need to be purchased for the new warehouse, negotiate a "trade-in discount" plan with the supplier, where usable chairs can be discounted against part of the purchase price at market value, reducing overall expenses.

Precautions: Before disposal, confirm whether the chairs involve intellectual property rights (such as customized logos) to avoid infringement risks. If the chairs contain electronic components (such as electric adjustment functions), the circuit safety must be tested separately.
