VIP Office Chair Instruction

Admin October 14, 2026

The recline adjustment of a VIP office chair should be carried out according to different system types, with the specific steps as follows:

I. Lever Adjustment System (Common in Mid-range/High-end Office Chairs)

  1. Locate the Adjustment Lever: Usually located on the right or left side beneath the seat, and some models may have it integrated beneath the armrests.
  2. Release the Lock: Gently pull up or push the lever (some models may require pressing), and a 'click' sound indicates that the lock has been released.
  3. Adjust the Angle: Slowly lean back while continuously manipulating the lever, controlling the recline range according to your needs (it is recommended to adjust in stages to avoid sudden force).
  4. Lock the Angle: After reaching a comfortable angle, release the lever, and the backrest will automatically lock; to return to an upright position, manipulate the lever again and lean forward slightly with some force, and the backrest will spring back into place.
Note: Keep both feet on the ground during adjustment to avoid the chair tipping over due to a shift in the center of gravity.

II. Knob Adjustment System (Common in Ergonomic Chairs)

  1. Locate the Knob: Positioned near the central support beneath the seat, and some models may require lifting the seat cushion cover to find it.
  2. Adjust the Resistance: Rotate clockwise to increase the backrest recline resistance (suitable for those with a heavier weight), and rotate counterclockwise to decrease the resistance (suitable for those with a lighter weight).
  3. Angle Lock (if applicable): Some chairs are equipped with a separate knob to control the upper limit of the recline angle. Refer to the instruction manual and rotate in the indicated direction (usually clockwise to tighten and counterclockwise to loosen).
Note: Adjust the resistance gradually to avoid over-rotation causing mechanical jamming; regularly check the tightness of the knob after long-term use.

III. Pneumatic Adjustment System (Common in Modern Office Chairs)

  1. Locate the Pneumatic Lever: Usually integrated with the height adjustment lever, located on the right side of the seat, marked as 'TILT' or 'RECLINE'.
  2. Adjust the Recline: After sitting firmly, gently pull the lever, and the backrest will recline smoothly; release the lever, and the backrest will lock at the current angle.
  3. Return to Upright: Pull the lever again and lean forward slightly with some force, and the backrest will automatically spring back to a vertical position.
Note: The pneumatic system has high requirements for air pressure stability. Avoid using it in extreme temperature environments; if the adjustment is stuck, check whether the gas cylinder is leaking or lacks lubrication.

IV. General Precautions

  1. Safe Operation: Ensure that the chair is placed on a stable surface during adjustment, and avoid operating it on slopes or slippery surfaces; when reclining at a large angle, it is recommended to lean against a wall or use an anti-tipping device.
  2. Material Protection: Long-term large-angle reclining of leather seats may accelerate surface cracks. It is recommended to adjust your posture every 2 hours; avoid scratching mesh seats with sharp objects.
  3. Model Differences: If the adjustment is ineffective, first check the label or instruction manual at the bottom of the chair to confirm whether it supports the recline function (some basic models do not have this design).
