University Assembly of Office Chairs
The assembly of office chairs at a university can be carried out following these steps:

Step 1: Install the Wheels
Office chairs typically come with five wheels. First, install them onto the base. Align the metal or plastic pins of each wheel with the wheel holes on the base, press down vertically with force, and listen for a 'click' sound or feel the pins fully embedded to confirm proper installation. Ensure the wheels rotate smoothly; if there is any stuttering, readjust the angle or replace the wheels.
Step 2: Insert the Gas Lift
The gas lift is the core component for adjusting the chair's height. Align the thin end of the gas lift (usually with threads or a smooth metal rod) with the central hole of the base, insert it vertically, and rotate slightly to ensure a tight connection between the gas lift and the base. Keep the gas lift vertical during installation to avoid instability during subsequent use. If the gas lift comes with a dust cover, put it on before insertion.
Step 3: Secure the Seat Plate to the Base
Flip the seat plate upside down and align the base (a metal or plastic component with a control lever) with the mounting holes on the bottom of the seat plate. Use four long screws (usually provided with the chair accessories) to pass through the holes on the base and the seat plate, and tighten them gradually in a diagonal order using a screwdriver or power tool. Ensure the base is firmly connected to the seat plate and the force is evenly distributed. After tightening, check if the base is level to avoid affecting use due to tilting.
Step 4: Connect the Backrest to the Seat Plate
Align the metal brackets (connectors) of the backrest with the mounting holes at the rear of the seat plate and secure them with screws. Pay special attention to the orientation of the black fabric: usually, the black fabric is the inner side of the backrest and should face the user's back to avoid reduced comfort due to incorrect installation. After tightening the screws, gently shake the backrest to check if it is stable, without looseness or abnormal noise.
Step 5: Overall Inspection and Adjustment
After completing the assembly, place the chair on a flat surface and test the functions of each component:
- Wheels: Push the chair to check if it slides smoothly without stuttering or deviation.
- Gas Lift: Press the control lever repeatedly to test if the height adjustment is flexible and there is no jamming during lifting and lowering.
- Backrest: Lean against the backrest gently to check if the connection is stable, without wobbling or abnormal noise.
- Seat Plate: Sit down and check if it is stable, with no sinking or tilting of the base.
If any issues are found, readjust or tighten the screws according to the specific part to ensure the chair is safe and usable.
