Office Chairs for Unit Authorities
Office chairs for unit authorities are one of the eight types of general office furniture recommended by the National Government Offices Administration. Their specifications, performance, and configurations must strictly adhere to the requirements outlined in the 'Guidelines on Specifications and Performance of General Office Furniture for Central Administrative Institutions'.

I. Specifications and Standardized Configurations
The Guidelines specify the appearance and main dimensional standards for general office chairs, aiming to promote large-scale production and procurement, and establish standardized configurations. Specific requirements include:
- Dimensional Compatibility: The specifications of office chairs must match the area of the office space to avoid affecting space utilization due to oversized or undersized dimensions. For example, the width, depth, and height of the seat must conform to ergonomic design principles to ensure user comfort.
- Standardized Production: By unifying dimensional parameters, procurement costs are reduced, furniture interchangeability is improved, and maintenance and updates are facilitated.
II. Performance and Quality Requirements
To ensure long-term effective use, the Guidelines set clear requirements for the performance indicators of office chairs:
- Surface Physical and Chemical Properties: The materials of contact areas such as the seat and backrest must possess properties such as wear resistance, stain resistance, and colorfastness. For example, the use of environmentally friendly coatings or fabrics ensures that the surface is not easily damaged.
- Mechanical Properties: The chair structure must pass load-bearing tests (such as static load and impact tests) to ensure stability. For example, the five-star base must be able to withstand specified weights to avoid tipping risks.
- Environmental Requirements: Materials must comply with national environmental standards, with indicators such as formaldehyde emission and volatile organic compound (VOC) content kept below specified limits to safeguard user health.
III. Configuration and Procurement Restrictions
The Guidelines strictly control the quantity and price of office chair configurations:
- Quantity Restrictions: The number of chairs configured is determined based on the staffing levels and actual needs of the office to avoid over-procurement or idle waste.
- Price Caps: The procurement price of a single office chair must not exceed the specified standard to prevent luxurious procurement.
- Compatibility with Office Space: The specifications of office chairs must be compatible with the area and layout of the room. For example, compact chairs are suitable for small offices to avoid spatial congestion.
IV. Policy Significance
Through standardized configurations and performance requirements, the Guidelines aim to enhance the management level of office furniture in central administrative institutions, achieve goals of resource conservation, cost control, and environmental sustainability, and provide a basis for subsequent asset inventory, allocation, and disposal.
