Gu Jia Office Chair Too High

Admin October 11, 2026

If the Gu Jia office chair is too high, you can first try adjusting the chair height. If it cannot be adjusted or still feels uncomfortable after adjustment, you can take measures such as replacing the gas lift, adding adjustable footrests, increasing back support, using cushions or stools, or replacing the office chair to solve the problem.

  1. Adjust the chair height
Generally, to adjust the height of an office chair, you need to press the handle under the chair and lift it up, using your body weight to lower the chair to a suitable height. This is the most direct and conventional solution, easy to operate, and suitable for most office chairs with adjustable height.

  2. Replace the gas lift
For fixed office chairs, replacing the gas lift is a more thorough solution. The specific operation is to first turn the chair upside down, use a slender tool to press the snap spring inside the base, and pull the rod upwards at the same time. If it is stuck tightly, you can apply cooking oil for lubrication, wait for 20 minutes to 2 hours, and then gently tap the connection with a hammer. When a small gap appears, pull out the old gas lift; then align the new gas lift with the hole in the base and insert it vertically to complete the fixation. This method requires certain hands-on skills and tools, and you need to pay attention to safety during operation.

  3. Add adjustable footrests
If the chair is only slightly too high (about a few millimeters to 1 centimeter), adding adjustable footrests is a more lightweight option. These footrests use screw-thread lifting and can be adjusted in height according to actual needs. You can also add a footrest or stack a few books under the chair. If more stability is required, you can use professional footrests.

  4. Increase back support
Add a soft pillow or cushion to the chair to increase back support and reduce lower back fatigue. This method cannot directly lower the chair height, but it can improve sitting posture and alleviate discomfort caused by the chair being too high.

  5. Use cushions or stools
Stack a small stool on the chair or use an ergonomic cushion to help adjust the distance between your body and the chair and reduce lower back pressure. This method is suitable for situations where the chair height cannot be adjusted and the gas lift cannot be replaced.

  6. Replace the office chair
If the above methods still cannot solve the problem, you can replace it with an office chair that is more suitable for your height. There are many office chairs on the market that conform to ergonomic principles and can individually adjust the height, armrests, etc., providing comprehensive support for the body.
