Folding of Training Office Chairs

Admin October 10, 2026

The folding operation of training office chairs is usually relatively simple. The specific steps vary slightly depending on the design of the model, but the core principles are similar. Here is a general operation guide:

I. Basic Folding Steps

  1. Check Structural Stability Before folding, ensure that the chair is in a stable position to prevent it from tipping over during the folding process due to an uneven floor. If the chair is equipped with a P-shaped writing board (commonly found on the right-hand side of training chairs), it should be retracted or removed first to prevent interference with the folding action. Some chairs have an iron book basket at the bottom, so check if there are any items placed inside the basket to avoid getting stuck during folding.

  2. Release the Locking Mechanism Most folding office chairs are equipped with a locking device at the connection between the backrest and the seat (such as a buckle, knob, or spring lock). Press or rotate the locking device with your hand to release the fixed state between the backrest and the seat. For example, a simple and portable training chair may adopt a spring buckle design. After pressing the buckle, the backrest can tilt backward.

  3. Fold the Backrest and Seat After releasing the lock, push the backrest backward until it is parallel to the seat, forming a flat structure. Some chairs (such as household folding chairs with triangular support designs) require pressing the folding buttons on both sides of the seat simultaneously to fold the seat and chair legs inward. Maintain a steady motion during folding to avoid excessive force that may deform the steel tubes.

  4. Fold the Chair Legs or Support Frame If the chair has a four-leg design, fold the front and rear chair legs inward to form a โ€œZโ€ shape or an โ€œIโ€ shape (refer to the 2025 new model Z-shaped bionic design). Some chairs use a cross-shaped support frame, so fold the support frame towards the center until it is fully folded. After folding, check if all components are tightly fitted to prevent loosening.

II. Folding Differences Among Different Models

  1. Training Chairs with Writing Boards The writing board should be dealt with first: a plastic writing board may be retracted by rotating or sliding, and a panel writing board needs to be removed or flipped to the back of the chair. Ensure that the writing board is completely fixed during folding to avoid scratching the floor.

  2. Iron-Frame Molded Cotton Training Chairs For iron-frame chairs made of national standard 1.5 steel tubes, pay attention to whether the joints of the tubes are flexible during folding. If folding is difficult, gently shake the chair legs or spray a small amount of lubricant (such as WD-40) onto the rotating parts.

  3. Triangular Support Portable Chairs These chairs usually do not require complex operations. Simply press the buttons on both sides of the seat to fold them. After folding, they have a small volume and are suitable for use in dormitories or temporary office scenarios.

III. Precautions After Folding

  1. Storage Environment The folded chair should be placed in a dry and ventilated place to prevent the iron frame from rusting or the molded cotton from getting moldy due to moisture. If stored for a long time, place a moisture-proof pad at the part in contact with the ground.

  2. Regular Inspection Check the screws and buckles at the folding parts every month for looseness, especially at the connections of thickened steel tubes. The anti-slip feet should be cleaned of dust to ensure friction and prevent sliding.

  3. Load-Bearing Limit The load-bearing capacity of the chair in the folded state may be reduced. Avoid stacking heavy objects or standing on it to prevent structural deformation.
