Tokyo Office Chair Cleaning
Admin October 22, 2026
Office chair cleaning in Tokyo can be carried out according to the following steps, and appropriate methods should be selected based on the material and type of stains:

I. Basic Cleaning: Removing Surface Dust
- Vacuuming: Use a vacuum cleaner equipped with fabric attachments and crevice tools to thoroughly clean from the top of the chair to the wheels, removing stubborn hair and fluff. If you don't have a crevice tool, use compressed air to clear hard-to-reach debris; a furniture upholstery brush can prevent scratches on leather and vinyl upholstery. Be careful not to use excessive suction to avoid damaging the leather interior. If you don't have a vacuum cleaner, manually pat the chair with your hands or a hanger to dislodge dust. It is advisable to wear a mask if there is a significant accumulation of dust.
- Surface Wiping: Gently wipe away ordinary dust with a semi-damp towel (damp but not soaking wet after wringing out). Choose a lint-free towel to prevent fiber residue.
II. Stubborn Stain Removal
- General Method: Check the chair's care label to determine the type of cleaning agent. In most cases, a mixture of warm water and a few drops of dishwashing liquid can be used. Fill a spray bottle or dip a clean cloth into the mixture and gently pat (do not rub) it onto the seat cushion, using enough to cover the surface but not completely soak the material. If the care label has an 'S', use a dry cleaning solvent; if it has a 'W', use a water-based solvent (such as a combination of water and dishwashing detergent); if it has 'SW' or 'S/W', both types of solutions can be used; if it has an 'X', cleaning should only be done by professionals; if it has a 'C', an enzyme detergent is required. Always test any solution on an inconspicuous area first.
- Special Stains: Use rubbing alcohol to remove stains. First, test it on a small, inconspicuous area to ensure it does not damage the fabric. If it is safe, gently pat the alcohol onto the stain and wipe away the residue with a damp cloth, allowing the chair to air dry. Do not use on acrylic fabric upholstery, as rubbing alcohol may damage the fibers or cause dye fading. Test S-sized seat covers before use. If alcohol does not work, try an enzyme-based stain remover according to the instructions.
III. Deep Cleaning
If the chair has heavy stains, move it to the bathroom and spray it with hot water. Apply lingerie detergent and scrub the armrests, backrest, and other parts with a brush. After scrubbing, rinse off the foam with a showerhead. If the chair surface is made of fabric, press it firmly back and forth with your hands to squeeze out the internal moisture and speed up drying.
IV. Cleaning Other Parts
- Chair Armrests and Legs: Wiping with a damp cloth is usually sufficient. For stubborn stains, use a diluted solution of water and dishwashing soap for cleaning.
- Wheels: Remove the wheels and use a butter knife to scrape off large debris stuck in them. Wipe away stubborn stains with a damp soapy cloth and dry them with a paper towel before reinstalling. If hair is stuck in the wheels, cut it with scissors and remove it with tweezers. When cleaning between the wheels and covers, use a cotton swab dipped in water to clean along the cracks and ensure the wheels are completely dry.
