Office Chair Always Tilts Forward
The issue of an office chair always tilting forward can be resolved through targeted troubleshooting and adjustments. Here are the common causes and solutions:

1. Incorrect Base Installation or Loose Chassis Components
If the forward-tilt adjustment lever is located on the left side of the seat base (when sitting upright), the base may be installed backward. Solution: Turn the chair upside down (use a soft cloth to prevent scratching the floor), unscrew the connection between the chassis and the seat cushion, rotate the base 180 degrees, and reinstall it so that the adjustment lever is on the right side. If the screws on the chassis are loose, causing the seat cushion to become unbalanced, use a tool to tighten the screws to a torque of 15-20 Nยทm (it is recommended to check every 6 months).
2. Gas Lift Cylinder Failure
Internal pressure instability or damage to the gas lift cylinder may cause the front of the seat cushion to sink. Solution: Contact after-sales service to replace the gas lift cylinder. Avoid disassembling it yourself to prevent safety hazards.
3. Structural Design Issue (Forward-Tilt Function Not Turned Off)
Some ergonomic or office chairs have a forward-tilt function. If the adjustment mechanism is not fixed, the chair may tilt forward unexpectedly. Solution: Check if there is a physical locking button on the seat chassis and turn off the forward-tilt function. If you need to adjust the forward-tilt angle, sit on the chair, reach under the seat cushion to find the adjustment handle, pull the handle while adjusting your body's center of gravity, and release the handle to lock it when the seat cushion returns to a horizontal or comfortable angle.
4. Worn or Loose Connectors
After 3-5 years of use, the connecting screws between the five-star base and the seat cushion may rust or become stripped, causing the chair to tilt forward when bearing weight at the front. Solution: Check the condition of the screws. If they are rusted, replace them with stainless steel screws; if they are stripped, reinforce or replace the connectors.
5. Impact of Usage Habits
Long-term leaning forward while writing at a desk or sitting close to a computer screen can cause the center of gravity to shift forward, making the front legs of the chair bear excessive weight and causing the leg steel to deform. Solution: Adjust your sitting posture to keep your body's center of gravity on the central axis of the chair and avoid continuous pressure on the front.
6. Assembly Errors
If the backrest and seat cushion are connected in the wrong direction during self-assembly, or if the gas lift cylinder and the base are not properly connected, it can result in a higher front and lower back. Solution: Recheck the assembly direction to ensure that the connections between the backrest and seat cushion, and between the gas lift cylinder and the base, comply with the instructions.
7. Ground Adaptation Issues
Soft carpets, sloped floors, or debris stuck in the caster brackets on hard floors can all cause the chair to tilt forward. Solution: Adjust the caster locking function or use wooden shims to level the floor; clean the debris from the caster brackets to ensure smooth rolling.
