The Office Chair Keeps Sliding
Admin October 22, 2026
The issue of an office chair constantly sliding can be resolved through basic reinforcement and adjustments, efficient anti-slip solutions, and enhanced fixation for special scenarios.

Basic Reinforcement and Adjustments
- Tighten all screws: Use an appropriate screwdriver or wrench to carefully inspect all connection points of the chair, especially critical areas such as where the legs connect to the seat and where the backrest connects. Tighten all screws and bolts. If any screws are stripped or damaged, promptly replace them with new ones of the same specification to ensure the chair's structure is stable and reduce sliding caused by loose components.
- Level the chair legs: When uneven floors cause part of the chair to be suspended and slide, level the shorter legs. Depending on the situation, you can stick cardboard or thin wooden pieces to the bottom of the shorter legs, or use dedicated adjustable-height furniture feet or rubber pads. These pads can fill the gaps between the legs and the floor, enabling the four legs to bear weight evenly and enhancing stability.
Efficient Anti-Slip Solutions
- Use self-adhesive anti-slip pads/EVA protective pads: Simply stick self-adhesive anti-slip pads or EVA protective pads to the bottom of the chair feet. Their special textures or materials can significantly increase friction with the floor, effectively preventing the chair from sliding. Additionally, these anti-slip pads have noise-reduction functions, reducing the noise generated when moving the chair, and can prevent the chair feet from scratching the floor, suitable for most floor types.
- Install chair leg covers: Silicone covers have good elasticity, excellent anti-slip and wear-resistant properties, and are easy to install by simply sliding them onto the chair legs, making them a universal first choice. Felt pads offer excellent noise reduction and good protection for soft floors like wooden floors, but their anti-slip performance is weaker on smooth hard surfaces such as tiles and they are susceptible to moisture. Anti-slip tapes can be cut to the appropriate size and wrapped around the chair legs, providing strong fixation and are suitable for irregularly shaped legs, but may leave adhesive marks on the legs when removed.
- Lay carpets or anti-slip mats: Laying a carpet or a dedicated anti-slip mat in the area where the chair is frequently used can fundamentally increase overall friction and prevent the chair from sliding, while also protecting the floor from wear caused by the chair feet.
Special Scenarios and Enhanced Fixation
For scenarios where the chair needs to be placed stably against a wall to prevent backward sliding, increase friction at the contact surface between the chair and the wall. For example, place a rubber pad or anti-slip strip between the chair backrest and the wall to increase the friction at the contact surface, making the chair more stable and less likely to slide when placed against the wall.
