The Disadvantages of Office Chairs
The disadvantages of office chairs are mainly reflected in four aspects: safety hazards, health risks, risks for children, and excessive formaldehyde levels.

1. Safety hazards
The pneumatic rods of low-quality office chairs are the main source of risk. If the tube wall is too thin or the gas is impure (such as using compressed air instead of inert gas), an explosion may occur due to internal pressure imbalance, causing serious external injuries to the user. In addition, issues such as base breakage and caster detachment can also lead to sudden falls, especially when moving or adjusting the sitting position, posing a higher risk.
2. Health risks
Sitting in an office chair for long periods significantly increases the pressure on the lumbar spine. Studies have shown that the lumbar spine pressure is about 100 kilograms when standing, but it can soar to 180 kilograms when sitting incorrectly. Long-term use can easily lead to problems such as lumbar disc herniation and lumbar muscle strain, with more than 65% of office workers being affected. If the office chair lacks dynamic lumbar support, the user may be forced to maintain a fixed posture, exacerbating the long-term overload state of the cervical and lumbar spines and causing chronic pain.
3. Risks for children
Due to their short stature, children cannot touch the ground with their feet when using office chairs, making them prone to falls and injuries due to an unstable center of gravity. The design with wheels may cause the chair to slide and collide, increasing the risk of accidental injuries. In addition, children's skeletal development is not yet mature. Long-term use of office chairs with a high risk of pneumatic rod explosion or improper sitting postures (such as hunching or sitting askew) can lead to problems such as spinal deformation and impaired blood circulation in the legs.
4. Excessive formaldehyde levels
Some office chairs use low-quality adhesives or artificial boards during production, resulting in excessive formaldehyde emissions. Long-term exposure may cause respiratory irritation, allergic reactions, and even increase the risk of malignant diseases such as leukemia, posing a greater threat to sensitive groups such as pregnant women and children.
Summary: The disadvantages of office chairs involve multiple aspects such as safety, health, suitability for different user groups, and environmental protection. When purchasing, priority should be given to products that have passed national safety certifications, have ergonomic designs, and have passed formaldehyde tests. Children should also be prevented from using them alone.
