Tax Office Chair

Admin October 09, 2026

Tax office chairs have different characteristics in various scenarios, covering aspects such as procurement and controversial incidents.

In terms of procurement, there are multiple situations. During the procurement of office desks and chairs for the Nanjing County Tax Bureau of the State Taxation Administration, although specific information about the office chairs was not mentioned separately, the overall project had a maximum price limit of 60,000 yuan. Zhangzhou Yijia Home Furnishings Co., Ltd. won the bid with a quotation of 51,660 yuan. This reflects that within the framework of the overall procurement budget, as part of the whole, the price of office chairs is subject to the constraints of the overall budget. The Zhangpu County Tax Bureau of the State Taxation Administration's procurement project for general office equipment and furniture in 2026 plans to purchase 39 office chairs. It is an off-catalog project below the limit and adopts a competitive selection method. Five enterprises, including Zhangpu Haimao Furniture Business (an individual business) and Zhangzhou Xinxin Trading Co., Ltd., were invited to participate in the selection. This procurement method demonstrates the standardization of the procurement process and the introduction of a competitive mechanism, which helps in selecting more suitable office chair suppliers. In 2025, the national tax system procured more than 20,000 metal-frame chairs similar to the controversial ones, which are widely used in tax service halls, investigation office areas, and other places. This indicates that metal-frame chairs have a wide application and a relatively large demand in the office scenarios of the tax system^[4].

Regarding the controversial incident, an ordinary office chair in the illustration of a relevant document from the Investigation Bureau of the Chifeng Tax Bureau sparked controversy. This metal chair raised public opinion due to its visual similarity to the "tiger bench," a common torture device in Ming and Qing yamen. However, this controversial tax office chair adopts an "L-shaped" structure, with the vertical support column and the horizontal seat surface forming a standard right angle. It complies with GB/T 39223.3 - 2020 "Ergonomic Requirements for Healthy Homes - Part 3: Office Chairs," and parameters such as seat height and backrest inclination meet modern office needs. This shows that the office chair should not be interpreted one-sidedly merely based on its visual similarity, and its design and parameters are in line with modern office requirements^[4].
