Swivel and Office Chair Repair

Admin October 17, 2026

The repair methods for swivel chairs and office chairs mainly include hydraulic/pneumatic rod replacement, wheel replacement, and inspection and replacement of other components. When performing repairs, it is important to follow operational guidelines, and for complex issues, it is recommended to contact professionals.

Hydraulic/Pneumatic Rod Replacement

When the hydraulic or pneumatic rod of a swivel chair is damaged, causing the chair to be unable to rise or fall or to sink, it can be replaced by yourself. First, lay the swivel chair down and use a pipe wrench or locking pliers to grip the iron post of the pneumatic rod, gently twisting to separate the upper part of the seat. Next, use a hammer or wrench to tap the bottom edge of the pneumatic rod to knock it out from the base. Finally, purchase a new pneumatic rod of the appropriate size, insert it into the base, and install the upper part of the seat. During the operation, be careful to apply moderate force to avoid damaging other components.

Wheel Replacement

If an office chair tilts to one side, it may be due to damaged wheels or an uneven floor. First, place the chair upright and upside down to check if each wheel foot is in contact with the ground and to confirm if there are any damaged wheels. After identifying a damaged wheel, purchase a new set of matching wheels for replacement. When removing the old wheels, you can pull them out directly by hand or use a flat-head screwdriver as a lever. Apply a small amount of lubricant to the sockets on the chair base and tap the new wheels into the sockets to ensure they are securely installed.

Inspection and Replacement of Other Components

If the chair still has issues, it may be necessary to check if the seat plate or other internal parts are damaged. Inspect the seat plate for deformation or damage and replace it if necessary. If the cylinder system is damaged, follow the repair steps to remove the old cylinder and install a new one. When inspecting and replacing components, carefully examine the condition of each part to ensure that the replacement parts match the original ones.

Repair Precautions

During the disassembly and installation process, be extremely careful not to damage other parts of the chair to avoid causing more serious problems. Use the appropriate tools and follow the correct steps strictly to avoid repair failures or safety issues due to improper operation. If the problem is complex or you are unable to solve it yourself, it is recommended to contact the manufacturer or professional repair personnel, who have more professional knowledge and experience and can better solve chair repair problems.
