Steel Frame Office Chair Installation

Admin October 10, 2026

The installation steps for a steel-frame office chair are as follows:

1. Prepare Components and Basic Assembly
First, inventory all components, including the five-claw (star-shaped) base, wheels, seat plate, seat, backrest rod, armrests, and matching screws (short, medium, and long sizes) and nuts. Insert the wheels vertically into the holes of the star-shaped base, ensuring each wheel is securely in place. This is the foundation for the chair's mobility. If the wheels do not fit the base holes, check if they are the correct matching model to avoid damage from forced installation.

2. Secure the Seat and Backrest Structure
Align the seat plate with the mounting holes on the underside of the seat. Use four short screws to pass through the seat plate from below and tighten them to ensure a firm connection between the seat plate and the seat. The backrest rod must be installed in the correct orientation: place the rod with the groove facing upwards and secure it to the designated position on the seat plate with medium screws. Pay attention to aligning the holes of the rod and the seat plate to prevent loose connections due to misaligned screws.

3. Connect the Star-Shaped Base and Gas Lift
Insert the gas lift (height adjustment column) into the central hole of the star-shaped base, ensuring the bottom of the gas lift is fully flush with the base. Then, align the central hole of the seat plate with the top of the gas lift and gently press down to engage the seat plate with the gas lift. If the gas lift has an adjustment button, confirm that the button faces a convenient direction for operation (usually towards the front of the seat).

4. Install the Backrest and Armrests
Insert the other end of the backrest rod into the dedicated hole at the rear of the seat plate and tighten it with a nut. This step requires two-handed operation: one person holds the backrest steady while the other tightens the nut to prevent the rod from shifting. For armrest installation, use long screws to align the armrests with the holes on the sides of the seat and tighten them. The left and right armrests must be installed symmetrically to ensure balance during use.

5. Final Inspection and Adjustment
After installation, thoroughly check that all components are tightly connected: shake the seat to test the stability of the star-shaped base and wheels; repeatedly adjust the gas lift to confirm that the height adjustment function works properly; sit on the chair to test if the backrest tilt angle meets expectations; and check if the armrest height matches the desk. If any screws are loose, tighten them promptly; if the gas lift adjustment is stuck, apply a small amount of lubricant to the surface of the gas lift.

Precautions: Avoid using excessive force during installation, especially when connecting the gas lift to the seat plate and the backrest rod to the nuts, as overexertion may deform the components. If any components are missing or damaged, contact the supplier for replacements before continuing with the installation.
