Staff Office Chair Manufacturing

Admin October 19, 2026

The manufacturing process of staff office chairs mainly includes four core steps: making metal frames, processing leather and foam, sewing components, and assembling.

Making metal frames is the foundational step in office chair manufacturing. First, steel tubes are bent into the shape of the bottom cushion frame, and steel bars are welded in the middle for installing the mechanical device that adjusts the seat. Subsequently, steel springs are hung to form the seat suspension net, and metal rods are clamped onto the springs to enhance the stability and support of the seat. Then, the backrest frame of the seat, including lumbar supports, armrest sections, and other accessories, is welded according to the design drawings to ensure the frame structure meets ergonomic requirements.

Processing leather and foam is a crucial step to enhance seat comfort. The leather is laid flat on a cutting table and cut into the required patterns for the seat along the template shapes. At the same time, the filling foam is cut according to the shape of the leather. The cushion part requires harder foam to maintain its shape, while the backrest part uses softer foam to improve comfort during prolonged use.

Sewing components demands fine craftsmanship. The leather and foam are sewn together, with pleats pinched at specific positions according to design requirements to form decorative thread patterns. The seat backrest, side panels, and contour covers are sewn separately to ensure that the dimensions and shapes of each component meet the design requirements while ensuring the sturdiness and aesthetics of the stitches.

Assembling is the final step in the manufacturing process and the key to integrating all components into a complete chair. First, a layer of cardboard is added to the backrest frame, followed by a layer of foam, and finally wrapped with a leather cover to enhance the support and comfort of the backrest. Then, a sliding plate assembly is installed to allow the seat to adjust the cushion position forward and backward to meet the needs of different users. Next, a hydraulic cylinder is installed to enable height adjustment and 360-degree rotation of the seat, and the hydraulic cylinder is connected to an aluminum base, into which casters are inserted to allow flexible movement of the chair. Finally, a headrest and armrests are installed on the backrest to complete the assembly of the entire chair.
