Square Steel Office Chair

Admin October 16, 2026

The production of square steel office chairs combines structural design with specific craftsmanship, focusing on the core aspects of 'load-bearing, adjustment, and mobility'. The manufacturing process must consider material selection, structural design, and assembly techniques.

1. Key Points of Structural Design

The structural design of square steel office chairs must meet the requirements of stable support and flexible adjustment, focusing on three dimensions:

  1. Load-Bearing Design: The wall thickness of the square steel used as the chair leg material directly affects its load-bearing capacity. For example, 350# steel tube legs can effectively prevent fracture risks caused by metal fatigue in heavy-load or frequent rotation scenarios. Chair legs typically adopt a five-claw or four-claw structure to disperse pressure through geometric distribution, ensuring stability.
  2. Adjustment Function: The support frame must integrate hydraulic devices (for height adjustment) and 360-degree rotating bearings to meet users' dynamic adjustment needs for sitting posture height. Some designs also incorporate tilt adjustment mechanisms at the backrest to enhance comfort.
  3. Mobility Performance: Movable wheels (such as universal wheels) are installed at the bottom of the chair legs, considering the friction between the wheels and the ground as well as noise reduction effects. High-strength plastic or rubber materials are commonly used.

2. Manufacturing Process Flow

Taking SolidWorks design as an example, the manufacturing process can be divided into the following steps:

  1. Sketching and Modeling: Determine the seat dimensions by sketching rectangles (e.g., side length 120, with each grid being 30 wide when divided into four grids). Use the sketching function to draw chair leg components and determine their shapes and positions by constraining lines to coincide, be equal, and setting dimensions (e.g., leg length 100, 120).
  2. Frame Production: In actual production, workers first bend the square steel into the chair's bottom frame, ensuring precise angles at each connection (e.g., 90-degree right angles). Then, they weld the seat cushion part to the frame to enhance overall rigidity.
  3. Component Assembly:
    • Install springs and backrest: Design the backrest curvature according to ergonomics, cut leather and foam, sew the outer skin, and then fix it to the frame.
    • Integrate the support system: Assemble hydraulic devices, rotating bearings, and wheels, and test the smoothness of adjustment and mobility.
    • Add accessories: Install headrests, armrests, etc., ensuring that all components are firmly connected and meet safety standards.

3. Material and Process Optimization

Square steel must undergo anti-rust treatment (such as painting or electroplating) to extend its service life; welding joints must be polished smooth to avoid scratching users; the foam density of the seat cushion and backrest must be moderate to balance support and comfort. Additionally, modern designs often incorporate modular concepts to facilitate maintenance and component replacement.
