Songlin Office Chair Disassembly

Admin October 13, 2026

The disassembly of the Songlin office chair can be carried out according to the following steps:

Preparation

Prepare a Phillips or flat-head screwdriver, a wrench suitable for the screw type, a rubber mallet, gloves, and other tools. Move the chair to an open area free of clutter to avoid bumping into other items during the disassembly process. Take photos of the assembled state of the chair with your phone, especially the positions of the screws and the connection methods of the components, for easy reassembly later.

Separate the Seat and the Backrest

  • If the chair has a non-integrated backrest, turn the chair over, find the connecting screws between the seat and the backrest, usually located at the junction of the lower part of the backrest and the seat, and unscrew the fixing screws with a screwdriver to separate the two.
  • For some chairs, you need to find the screws around the backrest, use a wrench or other tools to loosen them, find the notches on the backrest, and turn them counterclockwise until the backrest can be easily removed.

Remove the Armrests

The armrests are mostly fixed to both sides of the seat with screws. Find the screws at the corresponding positions and unscrew them with a screwdriver to remove the armrests.

Separate the Gas Lift and the Base

  • Turn the chair completely upside down and find the connection part between the gas lift and the base. Most of them are fixed with snap rings or screws. Use a tool to loosen the snap ring or unscrew the fixing screws to pull the gas lift out from the base.
  • Another way is to unscrew the screws at the bottom of the base to separate the base from the gas lift. Since the base and the gas lift are tightly fitted, place a towel and gently tap the bottom of the gas lift with a rubber mallet to separate it from the base. Be careful not to use excessive force to prevent damage to the components.

Remove the Casters

The casters are usually directly snapped onto the caster holders of the base. You can pull them out with relatively strong force or use a screwdriver to gently pry the edges to remove them.

Precautions:

  • Do not operate violently when disassembling the gas lift of the office chair to avoid injury from high-pressure gas leakage. The edges of metal components are sharp, so wear gloves during operation.
  • Put small components such as screws and nuts into sealed bags and mark their corresponding positions to prevent loss.
  • If the screws are rusty and cannot be unscrewed, you can drip some rust remover and let it sit for 5 minutes before trying again. Do not hit plastic components with hard objects to prevent breakage.
