Solid Wood Office Chair Assembly
The assembly of a solid wood office chair should be carried out step by step according to its specific structure. The following is the assembly process for a common design featuring a pneumatic rod and a five-star base:

I. Pre-assembly Preparation
Environment and Item Organization
Choose a well-lit, flat area and categorize all components for easy access. Standard components include: a five-star base, 5 casters, a pneumatic rod, a seat tray (chassis), a seat cushion, a backrest, armrests, a screw pack, and installation tools (such as an Allen wrench and screwdrivers).
Tool Recommendations: Manufacturers usually provide an Allen wrench. Prepare your own screwdrivers (Phillips/flat-head) or a low-torque electric screwdriver, a rubber mallet (for assisting with pneumatic rod installation), and a tape measure (for adjustments). If professional tools are unavailable, pliers can be used temporarily, but be careful not to strip the screws.Component Inspection
Verify the component list to ensure nothing is missing or damaged. Some solid wood chairs may feature a thickened panel structure, requiring additional checks for armrests, nuts, etc.
II. Core Assembly Steps
Install the Five-Star Base and Casters
- Place the five-star base face up, take a caster, align the metal rod with the base hole, and press vertically until you hear a โclickโ (for snap-fit types); if threaded, tighten clockwise.
- After installation, gently shake the five-star base to check if the casters are secure and avoid potential safety hazards caused by looseness.
Install the Pneumatic Rod
- Ensure the center hole of the five-star base is facing up and remove the plastic protective cap from the top of the pneumatic rod (if present).
- Insert the thicker end of the pneumatic rod vertically into the center hole and press firmly to the bottom to ensure full insertion.
Install the Seat Tray
- Flip the seat cushion so the bottom is facing up, remove the pre-installed screws, and align the tray with the holes (note the front and back: the side with the height adjustment lever is the front).
- After initially tightening all screws, use the โdiagonal tightening methodโ: first tighten two screws on the diagonal, then alternately tighten the rest, repeating 2-3 times to ensure even stress and prevent misalignment of the tray.
Connect the Seat to the Pneumatic Rod
- Lift the seat with the installed tray, align the center hole of the tray with the top of the pneumatic rod, and press vertically to fit the seat onto the rod, ensuring a secure connection.
III. Precautions
- Safe Operation: Avoid inserting the pneumatic rod at an angle to prevent damage to its internal structure; control the force when using a rubber mallet to avoid damaging components.
- Adjustment and Inspection: After assembly, test if the casters rotate smoothly, if the pneumatic rod adjusts in height flexibly, and if the seat is stable. Adjust screw tightness or reinstall problematic components promptly.
Tip: For solid wood chairs with a thickened panel structure (without a pneumatic rod), the assembly steps are simplified to: securing the armrests to the seat cushion (using nuts), installing the backrest (aligning holes and tightening screws), and finally checking the firmness of all components.
