Solid Wood Office Chair Adjustment

Admin October 10, 2026

The adjustment of solid wood office chairs can refer to the adjustment methods of general office chairs, mainly involving height adjustment and backrest recline adjustment.

Height Adjustment

  • Locate the control device: Solid wood office chairs usually have hand-operated control devices located beneath or on the side of the chair, which could be a lever or a knob. Carefully search around the chair, generally near the edge beneath the seat, for easy operation by the user.
  • Operation methods:
    • Pull up the lever or turn the knob: Once the control device is found, pull up the corresponding lever or turn the knob to adjust the seat height. During the adjustment process, you can slightly move away from the seat to feel the change in seat height and adjust it to a comfortable position.
    • Operation for specific models: For some models of solid wood office chairs, you need to pull up the lever to lift the seat and press it down to lower the seat. For pneumatic models of solid wood office chairs, you can achieve seat elevation by pumping the lever. Pumping it multiple times can raise the seat to an appropriate height, and vice versa for lowering it.
    • Adjustment in a standing position: You can also adjust the chair in a standing position. Stand in front of the chair so that the front of the chair is just below your knees, and then operate the control device. This allows you to more intuitively find a suitable seat height for yourself.

Backrest Recline Adjustment

  • Find the adjustment handle: After sitting on the chair, look for the adjustment handle on the side of the chair, usually near the right armrest, although the position may vary slightly depending on the brand and model of the solid wood office chair.
  • Operation steps:
    • Recline adjustment: Pull the handle while gently leaning back with your back. When you reach the desired recline angle, release the handle, and the backrest will be fixed at that angle.
    • Return to the upright position: If you want to return the backrest to its original position, continue pulling the handle and then apply a slight force with your back, and the backrest will spring back to the upright state.
    • Lay the backrest flat: To lay the backrest flat, there is usually a pull rod beneath the right armrest. Pulling the pull rod will allow you to lay the backrest flat. In addition, you can adjust the amplitude of the backrest's forward and backward swing by rotating the thick black cylinder in front of the chair's pneumatic rod.
