Simple Wooden Office Chair
Simple wooden office chairs can be made using the following two main methods:

Method 1: Square-shaped Frame Structure
This method is based on constructing a sturdy square-shaped frame. First, select four pieces of square wood of appropriate dimensions and fix them into a square-shaped frame using mortise-and-tenon joints or metal connectors. Mortise-and-tenon joints are a commonly used connection method in traditional Chinese woodworking, achieving a stable connection through the interlocking of concave and convex parts of the wood, without the need for additional nails or glue, and offering high structural strength and durability. If metal connectors such as corner braces or screws are used, the frame assembly can be completed more quickly and the connection will be firm, suitable for modern industrial production. Lay the assembled square-shaped frame horizontally with its long sides level. Next, fix a piece of wood on the inner side of each long side of the frame. These two pieces of wood can serve as the support structure for the chair seat, enhancing its load-bearing capacity. The seat material can be a solid wood board or a multi-layer board of moderate thickness, which should be cut and sanded according to design requirements to ensure a flat and smooth surface. Finally, sand and paint the entire chair to improve its aesthetics and durability.
Method 2: Square Frame with Inclined Leg Structure
This method starts by preparing four wooden boards of different lengths and fixing them into a square frame. Mortise-and-tenon joints or metal connectors can also be used for connection to ensure the stability of the frame. Then, fix a long wooden board diagonally on top of the square frame as the main support structure for the chair back. The design of the inclined legs not only provides a comfortable backrest angle but also increases the stability of the chair. At the same time, fix another wooden board on the other side of the square frame to form two legs, providing stable support for the chair. To further improve the structure, short pieces of wood can be used to reinforce the connection points of the chair, such as at the connection between the chair back and the seat, and between the legs and the frame, enhancing the overall structural strength. Finally, sand and paint the chair to make its surface smooth and evenly colored.
As a type of seating made of wood, the structural design of wooden chairs has evolved with the changing times, craftsmanship, and aesthetics. Whether it is a traditional handmade product or a modern industrial product, attention must be paid to the rationality and stability of the structure to ensure safety and comfort during use.
