Simple Office Chair Making

Admin October 10, 2026

Simple office chairs can be made using beverage bottles or wooden scraps, as detailed below:

I. Making with Beverage Bottles

Materials Preparation: Prepare various sizes of PET bottles (quantity depending on the size of the stool), tape, plywood, polyester fiber wadding (artificial fiber), filling material (such as polyester lining fabric), etc. Production Steps:

  1. Bottle Fixation: Take seven PET bottles, place one in the center, arrange the other six around it, and secure them with tape to form the first layer; then expand outward from the first layer to create the second layer, adjusting the quantity as needed, and also secure it with tape.
  2. Plywood Installation: Cut two circular pieces of plywood, with a diameter about 2.54 centimeters larger than the PET bottle circle; use an electric screwdriver to attach the plywood to the top and bottom of the bottle structure.
  3. Soft Wrapping: Wrap polyester fiber wadding around the bottles, ensuring that the excess at the top and bottom overlaps with the plywood, and secure it to the edge of the bottom plywood with a stapler or decorative nails.
  4. Cushion Making: Add filling material (such as polyester lining fabric) to the top plywood, press it flat, and then use multiple long threads to cross the surface and stitch the seams to ensure the cushion is firm.
  5. Chair Cover Application: Measure the circumference and height of the stool, cut and sew the polyester lining fabric, cover it on the stool surface, and leave extra fabric at the top and bottom for fixation.

II. Making with Wooden Scraps (Taking the Turtle Stool as an Example)

Materials Preparation: Wooden scraps, seat, storage box, casters, screws, stainless steel corner brackets (optional). Production Steps:

  1. Board Cutting: Cut the base, top, side, and back panels according to the size of the seat and storage box; sand the cut edges and corners to avoid burrs.
  2. Frame Assembly: Connect the base and side panels with self-tapping screws, securing several screws on each side (decide whether to pre-drill holes based on the type of board); stainless steel corner brackets can be installed on the inside to ensure the side panels are vertical.
  3. Back Panel Installation: Fix the base and back panel in the same way to form a stable frame structure.
  4. Seat Fixation: Place the finished seat on top of the wooden frame, drill holes, and secure it with screws.
  5. Mobility Device: Install casters at the four corners of the base for easy movement.
  6. Storage Function: Place the storage box as a drawer inside the wooden frame, and install slides as needed to enhance usability.

Both methods require adjusting the size and materials according to actual needs, and attention should be paid to structural stability during the production process to ensure the finished product is safe and durable.
