Side Office Chair

Admin October 09, 2026

If an office chair tilts to the side, you can troubleshoot and fix the issue by checking the wheels, floor levelness, and seat structure.

Check the Wheel Status

The wheels are the key components that connect the office chair to the ground, and their condition directly affects the chair's stability. Place the chair upright and upside down, and carefully observe whether the wheels are level when they touch the ground. If you find that the wheel feet are bent, deformed, or damaged, this will cause uneven force distribution on the chair, leading to sideways tilting. For example, when a wheel becomes deformed due to long-term use or external impact, the contact area and pressure distribution between that wheel and the ground will change, causing the overall center of gravity of the chair to shift. In this case, you need to purchase new wheels that match the original model and replace them to ensure that all wheels can contact the ground normally and smoothly, restoring the chair's balance.

Check the Floor Levelness

The condition of the floor also has a significant impact on the stability of the office chair. If the wheels are in good condition but the chair still tilts, you need to confirm whether the floor where the chair is placed is level. An uneven floor will cause the wheels to be at different heights, leading to tilting issues. For example, when using an office chair on a floor with a slight slope or small potholes, some wheels will bear different pressures due to the height differences of the floor, causing the chair to tilt to one side. In this situation, you can choose to place the chair on a flat surface or make appropriate adjustments to the existing floor, such as filling in potholes or adjusting the slope, to ensure that the chair can be placed steadily.

Check the Seat Structure

When both the wheels and the floor are normal, you need to check whether the seat is loose or deformed. If the connecting screws between the seat and the chair frame are loose, the seat will tilt due to uneven force distribution. For example, during daily use, frequent sitting and standing actions will gradually loosen the screws, causing an unstable connection between the seat and the chair frame. In this case, you only need to use the appropriate tools to tighten the screws to restore the normal position of the seat. If the seat itself has dents or cracks due to long-term use, it will also affect the balance of the chair. In this case, you need to replace it with a new seat to ensure the normal use of the office chair.
