Exercises for Seated Office Chair
When sitting on an office chair for a long time, you can relieve discomfort and activate your body functions through the following exercises:

1. Chair Yoga: Targeted Relief for Shoulder, Neck, and Lower Back Stiffness
Chair yoga uses static stretching and simple twisting movements to quickly relax muscle tension caused by prolonged sitting. When performing Hands Behind Head Lean Back, place your hands on the back of your head, slowly lean back to the limit, hold for 5-10 seconds, and repeat 3 times to stretch the front neck muscles. For Sideways Grab Chair Back Twist, sit up straight and rotate your torso to one side, using one hand to grab the chair back to deepen the twist amplitude. Hold for 15 seconds on each side to relieve stiffness in the muscles on both sides of the spine. When doing Hands Grab Chair Back Spine Extension, reach up and grab the chair back with both hands, lift your chest, look up, and extend your spine backward. Hold for 10 seconds to improve a hunched posture. These movements enhance joint mobility through gentle stretching and are suitable for doing anytime during office breaks.
2. Seated Chair Fitness: Low-Intensity Training to Promote Whole-Body Circulation
Seated chair fitness combines dynamic movements with breathing to achieve multi-part training. For Leg Lifts, sit up straight and alternately lift your legs until they are parallel to the ground. Hold for 2 seconds and then slowly lower them. Repeat 10-15 times to activate the front thigh muscles and promote lower limb blood circulation. When doing Arm Circles, straighten your arms and make clockwise/counterclockwise circular movements with your shoulder joints as the axis. Do 10 times in each direction to relax the deltoid muscles in your shoulders. For Seated Running, simulate running movements by quickly alternating leg lifts and coordinating arm swings for 1 minute. This can increase your heart rate and relieve lower limb edema caused by prolonged sitting. These types of movements have low intensity and are suitable for quickly restoring your body state after long hours of office work.
3. 6-Minute Chair Activation Training: Efficiently Awaken Whole-Body Muscle Groups
This training uses compound movements to quickly improve stiffness caused by prolonged sitting. For Bulgarian Split Squats, place your back foot on the chair and bend your front knee to 90 degrees while keeping your torso stable. Do 10 times on each side to strengthen the gluteal and thigh muscles. For Incline Push-Ups, use the chair as support and do push-up movements with your hands on the chair surface. Repeat 8-12 times to exercise the upper body and core muscle groups. When doing Bodyweight Squats, stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, slowly squat down until your thighs are parallel to the ground, hold for 2 seconds, and then stand up. Repeat 10 times to activate the lower limbs and buttocks. For Seated High Pull-Downs, simulate the movement of a machine by grabbing both sides of the chair back with your hands and pulling down until your shoulder blades are tightened. Hold for 3 seconds and then relax. Repeat 12 times to relieve tension in the back muscles. This entire set of training takes a short time and is suitable for doing during lunch breaks or before getting off work.
4. Chair Stretching Exercises: Improve Posture in Fragmented Time
It provides 20 sets of training movements, each lasting 30 seconds, which can be completed without getting up. For example, when doing Seated Cat-Cow Pose, place your hands on your knees, lift your chest and look up when inhaling (Cow Pose), and lower your head and arch your back when exhaling (Cat Pose). Repeat 5 times to make your spine more flexible. For Wrist Stretches, straighten one hand and gently press down on the fingers with the other hand. Hold for 15 seconds and then switch sides to relieve wrist pain caused by keyboard use. For Hip Stretches, sit up straight, place your right ankle on your left knee, and wrap your arms around your left thigh and pull it towards your chest. Hold for 20 seconds and then switch sides to relax the hip joints. These types of movements cover the main muscle groups of the whole body and are suitable for doing during breaks between office tasks.
