Structure of Roller Office Chair
The structure of a roller office chair mainly includes six core components: the base, rollers, gas lift, seat cushion, backrest, and armrests. Each part works together through materials science and ergonomic design to provide support, adjustability, and comfort.

The base is the load-bearing foundation of the office chair, typically featuring a five-star leg structure made of metal (such as steel or aluminum alloy) or high-strength engineering plastics. Its design aims to distribute body weight evenly, ensuring stability during dynamic use. The radial layout of the five-star legs lowers the center of gravity, preventing tipping risks while providing uniform support for the rollers.
The rollers are mostly universal wheels, enabling 360-degree rotation through ball bearing structures to accommodate movement in different directions. Their materials are divided into hard (such as nylon) and soft (such as polyurethane) types. The former is suitable for hard floors, while the latter reduces indentations on carpets through elastic deformation. Silent rollers reduce friction noise through special coatings or shock-absorbing structures, enhancing the quietness of the office environment.
The gas lift is the core component for height adjustment, filled with high-pressure nitrogen gas and using a sealed piston to achieve lifting and lowering functions. When the user presses the handle on the side of the chair, changes in gas pressure inside the gas lift drive piston movement, raising or lowering the seat. High-quality gas lifts must pass safety certifications such as BIFMA to prevent explosion risks, with a typical adjustment range of 40-50 centimeters to fit different desk heights.
The seat cushion uses high-density foam or memory foam to disperse pressure on the buttocks through rebound properties. The foam density is generally not less than 30kg/mยณ to prevent sagging and deformation after prolonged sitting. Some high-end products add S-shaped springs or elastic bands beneath the foam layer to further enhance support. The cushion surface is often covered with breathable fabric (such as 3D mesh) to reduce heat buildup.
The backrest is mostly designed as a high backrest, covering the lumbar region to the shoulder blades, providing comprehensive support. In terms of materials, breathable mesh fabric promotes air circulation through its woven structure, while waterproof fabric is suitable for environments prone to stains. Some backrests are equipped with multi-position adjustment functions, fixing the tilt angle (usually 100-135 degrees) through buckles or damping hinges to meet different scenarios for rest and work.
The armrests are divided into fixed and adjustable types, with the latter featuring designs for height adjustment (within a 5-10 cm range), rotation (ยฑ30 degrees), or forward and backward sliding to accommodate users with different arm lengths. Adjustable armrests prevent arm suspension, reducing shoulder and neck muscle fatigue, and their surfaces are often covered with soft PU material to enhance tactile comfort.
These structures are combined through modular design, enabling the roller office chair to adapt to users of different body types and support health needs in prolonged sitting office scenarios through dynamic adjustment functions.
