Replacement of Office Chair Base
Admin October 19, 2026
The replacement of an office chair base can be carried out according to the following steps:

I. Preparation
Prepare a hammer, preferably a rubber hammer. If a rubber hammer is not available, an ordinary hammer can be used as a substitute. Also, prepare a towel to protect the paint surface during subsequent operations. Place the office chair on a flat and open ground for easy subsequent operations. Turn the chair upside down so that it lies on the ground, ensuring sufficient and stable operating space.
II. Removing the Old Base
- Removing the Fixing Screws: Locate the screws that fix the bottom tray to the seat cushion. Use appropriate tools (such as a screwdriver) to remove these screws one by one. During the removal process, be sure to keep the screws safe to avoid losing them for subsequent installation of the new base.
- Separating the Base: After separating the seat cushion from the bottom tray, start disassembling the base. Hold the office chair upside down with one hand and use the prepared rubber hammer to strike specific positions on the base. These specific positions are usually where the base is tightly connected to the chair frame. Through rhythmic striking, gradually loosen the base. If using an iron hammer, to prevent the paint surface from being scratched, place a towel between the iron hammer and the base to act as a buffer and provide protection. After striking several times, the base should separate from the chair frame.
III. Installing the New Base
- Cleaning the Chair Frame: Before installing the new base, clean the connection position on the chair frame. Use a clean cloth or brush to remove dust and rust, ensuring that the surface of the chair frame is clean and flat. This helps the new base fit better with the chair frame, improving the stability and firmness of the installation.
- Precise Alignment and Installation: Precisely match the new base with the chair frame and install it in the correct direction and position. During the installation process, slowly and carefully place the base into the chair frame to avoid installation failure or damage to components due to excessive force or positional deviation.
- Calibrating the Verticality and Tightening the Accessories: After installation, repeatedly calibrate the verticality of the new base to ensure that the office chair remains stable during normal use and does not tilt or wobble. Finally, use tools to tighten the fixing accessories to ensure that the new base is firmly connected to the chair frame and can withstand the pressure and weight during normal use.
