Replace Office Chair by Yourself

Admin October 10, 2026

Replacing an office chair by yourself can be divided into two scenarios: installing a new office chair and replacing the office chair cushion. The specific operations are as follows:

Installing a New Office Chair

  1. Installing the Wheels: A new office chair usually comes with four accessories. The first step is to install the five wheels. Typically, the wheels are fixed into the corresponding holes on the chair legs by insertion. During installation, ensure that each wheel is properly installed, can rotate flexibly, and is stable to avoid loosening, which could lead to safety hazards if the wheels fall off during use.
  2. Installing the Gas Cylinder: Insert the gas cylinder into the center of the chair legs. The gas cylinder is a key component for adjusting the height of the office chair. When inserting it, make sure the gas cylinder is perpendicular to the chair legs and is firmly installed to prevent it from wobbling or falling off during use, which would affect the normal operation and safety of the office chair.
  3. Installing the Base and Seat Plate: Attach the base to the bottom of the seat plate and fix it with four long screws. During installation, pay attention to the tightness of the screws. They should not be too loose, which would result in an unstable connection between the base and the seat plate, nor too tight, which could damage the screws or components. Also, ensure that the base and seat plate are installed in the correct positions to guarantee the balance and stability of the office chair.
  4. Installing the Back-to-Seat Connecting Brackets: Install screws on the back-to-seat connecting brackets to connect the chair back and the seat plate. When installing, follow the correct direction and position to ensure a firm connection between the chair back and the seat plate that can withstand a certain amount of pressure and can be flexibly adjusted in angle (if the office chair has this function).

Replacing the Office Chair Cushion

  1. Removing the Old Cushion: First, measure the size of the installation holes. Find a stool, flip the chair over, and place it on the stool. Use an Allen wrench to unscrew the four screws fixing the base and then unscrew the screws on the armrests. This way, the cushion can be removed. During the removal process, keep the removed screws and components properly to avoid losing them.
  2. Installing the New Cushion: After receiving the cushion purchased online, place the cushion on the stool, then place the chair base on the cushion, align the screw holes, and screw in four screws. When screwing in the screws, adjust them slowly and patiently to ensure that the screws are accurately inserted into the holes and are tightened to an appropriate degree so that the cushion and the base are firmly connected.
  3. Installing the Armrests: Install the two armrests and adjust the tightness of the screws at the same time. The installation of the armrests should ensure that they are in a suitable position to provide comfortable support for the user. When adjusting the tightness of the screws, make adjustments according to personal needs and usage habits so that the armrests can be fixed in the appropriate position and can also be adjusted appropriately.
